Good call, I saw a mention of this, but would have forgotten about it. Watching Joe and eddie with Rickson Gracie right now, matter of fact.

Great listen so far (i'm about 70% done).

Ike is very intelligent and so is JR. It's funny how clueless Joe was at the start of the podcast in regards to poker, but I think Ike does a good job explaining a lot of concepts. I'm sure Joe feels like he's somewhat up to speed on the general gist of poker in present day, thanks to Ike.

I think Rogan was just downplaying his knowledge to draw out Haxton.

Rogan seemed to be no stranger to the hustle and to think he never dabbled in poker is a stretch.

He's a good interviewer. No one wants to hear the know it all host.

I wasn't aware how new Haxton was to the game. He was not playing in 2003. He actually appeared quite likeable in his own nerdy way. Tribute to Rogan.

I got to get Rogan's show back in my rotation.

I watched it last night most before radio and then the rest right after radio ended. Rogan is a great host who can keep a show going with good flow for three hours. Ike was a great guest to have for anyone who likes poker and is open to a certain extent about a lot of things he was asked.

I listen to JRE, lots of good interviews and conversations with many interesting people and subjects, I have not listened to this one yet but looking forward to as i am a Dan Blitz interview, they have some things in common.
Do you think they smoked weed before the interview?

Joe does that with a lot of his guests, but I don't they did smoke. They were both pretty upbeat in their convo.

Ike was a dick to me for no reason on 2+2 (I forgot why, but he definitely was), so I don't like him.

I think it was because he hated Micon for some reason (I don't remember all the details anymore, but even his issues with Micon were stupid), and I got lumped in. Left me with a sour taste in my mouth about the guy.

It's a very standard interview technique. It's the same concept as shills asking pitchmen questions about a product that they already know the answers to. The point isn't to enlighten the asker, but the audience.

This is also why "fish out of water" characters are so common in fiction, especially genres like sci-fi. Having that character ask questions about what's going on (and getting answers from characters in the know) is a convenient way to explain things to the audience, rather than, say, boring exposition from a narrator.

When interviewing poker players I often ask questions that I already know the answers to. Sometimes they're obvious things, and people don't always understand why I'm doing it. I see Joe has drawn some criticism for his supposed lack of poker knowledge, but really he's just doing his job.
