When is pizza too old to eat

Leftovers in my fridge from last Saturday poker game. Pepperoni with sausage laying atop pepperoni. Took a slice out mic'ed for 60. Actually pretty good too tired to shop/cook after workweek.

I usually pitch after 4 days but will give this pizza a solid week.

I toss all pizza I don't eat when it's fresh.

    Reheated pizza = terrible.

i had a girlfriend who had this pizza trick:

if you wrap a damp paper towel around an old slice of pizza and then microwave it some, the dampness of the paper towel will put moisture back into the pizza...then you have a fairly good to eat pizza slice

never tried that pizza trick myself
(long before there was a PFA i had my Grenade & Crossbones avatar at DD)

I use that method as well, you can definitely notice a difference. I don't mind eating cold pizza either myself but a week is way to long for me, I toss it after a day or so.

Ya know I have this thing with pizza, I generally don't like hot sauce on it, but when it's cold pizza I drench it in texas pete.

A toaster oven reheats pizza excellently. A good one can hold 3 slices at once. I've had this one for years and love it-

Greek (generally panned) pizza heats up better than Italian style pie in a microwave. Dragons is correct with the hot sauce, it works wonders as does some BBQ sauces. And Dirty B is correct about the toaster oven. It will re spark the crust and make it tastier in some cases. My mom used to freeze it and then nuke the leftovers or put the pizza in a plastic ziplock bag and that worked too.

That said I never have leftovers cause I eat it all/thread

First off if you take left over pizza and just throw the box in the fridge with it in it then you are doing it wrong and no wonder your left over pizza taste like shit. Your best bet is to use saran wrap (I prefer that over foil) either wrapping a few pieces together or throwing them on a plate after the pizza has had time to cool then wrapping the plate up. Not wrapping it this way may leave you the nasty, soggy bottom.

As far as how long leftover pizza is good for really all depends. If you have a deep dish with that crunch to it then it will lose that in the fridge or hell even leaving it out for a while then eating it cold. You can sometimes re-create that crunch from using a toaster oven or regular oven which can be good enough but it won't ever be the same as when you first get it.

If having that crunch isn't a big deal in a deep dish then it will be just like warming up triangle style which for that as far as how long it still tastes good has several factors from the quality when you got it to the toppings. For just a basic pepperoni pie a lot of times if wrapped properly (see above) it will hold fine in the fridge for at least a few days and maybe up to a week. I've never made it to a week but I have had 5 day old pepperoni which was edible but I wish I finished it a day or two earlier.

For pepperoni and sausage as OP has it's about the same thing as just pepperoni. This goes the same with having bacon too but if you have a meat topic like ham then that shit can get slimy and gross after a couple days.

If you have something like a supreme pizza full of green peppers and onions then I would try to eat that shit sooner too because those ingredients start to get a stronger taste that takes over the pizza too much.

A chicken bacon ranch type of pizza I've had a couple days later without problems but I wouldn't go much longer then that.

As far as health concerns if you have a plain cheese or pepperoni pizza a week if stored in the fridge shouldn't get you sick and hell you could leave it on your counter to eat a day or two later which you probably aren't going to get sick. If anything the grease settles in colder/room temperature pizza can be easier on the stomach then the tasty grease sliding down your throat. Pepperoni has a lot of salt and preservatives where it's not going bad in a day or two but bacteria build up is a possibility, however, if the box is closed it helps a ton. Most times when you go to the grocery store to buy it the pepperoni packages are never fridgerated to start off with.

One of the best things I ever learned from 4 was to reheat pizza on the stove top in a pan. Toss the slices on a pan, heat medium, medium-low. As the pizza warms up, the bottom is getting nice and crispy, and when the cheese and whatnot on top looks ready, its ready.

Pizza is the cockroach of food, meaning there is no due date. However a pie can send you to the toilet in the middle of the night and in my case maybe sooner.

Did a Door Dash for the first time tonight medium vegetarian and this is what I got.

I called the restaurant and they were nice about a full refund. They explained they pore basil and honey sauce on a couple of their pizzas.

I think I'm going to bring it back up and flush.
