This was next on my list to watch and was wary of opening this thread as Sonatine can be an overly harsh TV critic.
It shouldn't do, but reading anything negative about something I've not seen yet definitely puts me off starting it.
But the reviews ITT seem to be unanimous. So pretty fucking glad i opened this, as I'm not one to quit a series halfway through.

Ferrell had a few great fucking scenes throughout the season, and he pretty much was the reason I kept watching. What a fucking trainwreck of writing though.
i enjoyed Ferrell's work, a lot.
McAdams too.
Vaughn was just totally misdirected through totally inadequate material and it sucked to sit through.

22 out of 30 kids in English 101 could have written a better storyline for this show than what NP actually did.
every time i sat down and objectively spelled out the plot, i felt ashamed at wasting the effort.

The great thing about the current landscape of Tv is you can take a great idea/script thats about a 2 hour movie, and stretch it out into 8, or 16, or 30 hours with quality writing.
TD2 took a 50 hour idea and condensed it to 8.5 hours.
I also feel slighted at not being given closure on Stan's kid. DID HE FIND SOMEONE TO PLAY CATCH WITH YET?!?!
Just watched the last episode. I had some hope for something there and they just torched it all over
I watched every episode, AND read that huge synopsis of the plot on zite and I still for the life of me have no fucking clue what happened in that show. Like seriously, I couldnt even tell you why that kid killed Caspere. I know it was some type of revenge killing involving his parents, but beyond that, ummm yeah no idea. Jesus that was bad.
The show was awful. However, some critics are simply too dumb to be qualified to even review it.
Some idiot from Rolling Stone criticized Vaughn's character for not giving up his suit. Like it was some kind of principle thing. If you can't figure out why Frank would risk dying rather than give up his suit jacket you shouldn't be watching this (or any show) in the first place.
