On East Coast now. Need Casino recommendations

I am in NY now and far away from Vegas. I can no longer do my monthly /bi monthly Vegas trips , as it is just too much travel time. Being the degen I am, I need a new spot.

    The casinos I have found:

    Foxwoods
    Caesars Atlantic City
    Borgata
    Mohegan Sun

Which of these is the best to go to in order of rank? Also, Foxwoods seems to have four hotels. Are there ones better than the others? Is it true that East Coast casinos dont have Sports betting? I cant seem to find any listed on any of the sites. Also, none of these casinos seem to be near airports which seems odd.

Most AC casinos have sports books. Bally's is the biggest I believe. Others might just do horse racing.

You'll most likely want to go Borgata if hitting AC. Although I'm not sure if they have a book.

They don't. I forget which one off hand, but only one left in AC even has a racebook.

NJ is trying to pass sports betting but they just got shot down by the Supreme Court so the next law to do it needs to start from scratch.

As to the OP, it depends on where in NY you are and what exactly you want to do. For Poker I wouldn't make a special trip to go anywhere besides Parx, Borgata, or Foxwoods unless there is a special tournament you want to play.

When football starts you can haul down to Delaware to play some parlays, but that's it for legal sports betting unless you are going to vegas.

    OK. Yeah, horse racing. Sorry.

Although that Bally's area is huge. They'd do well if it is ever legal there.

Despite the result of this survey, I am sure you will sample them all. I look forward to your trip reports, Cmoney.

Let's establish the obvious so as to quickly manage your expectations/disappointment.

People go to east coast casinos for one purpose only - to gamble. Shows, nightlife, tours, signtseeing, outdoor pools are not part of the mix.

Individually, Foxwoods & Mohegan are bigger than anything Vegas has to offer. The poker rooms, especially Foxwoods, are bigger than anything in Vegas.

Dealers in Connecticut are not a cheerful bunch unless you play in the high roller rooms. I find the high roller rooms to be an antiseptic experience. Too quiet - I feel like I am making a deposit in my banks safe deposit vault.

Mohegan is the most pleasant. Nicer decor. Smaller than Foxwoods. Friendlier. Financially more viable as a business and it shows. Top flight concerts usually. It's in a rustic, wooded setting. Kind of pretty but you are isolated.

It's a day or two of escape. That's it.

Atlantic City is, as they say, Detroit after the main industry faced superior competition and folded up. So fucking depressing. If I was hooded in the backseat on the way in and had the hood removed in the lobby of the Borgata and forbidden to leave the hotel property I might have a good time.

Sports books in AC are a draw, I guess. If you enjoy the vibe of a book during games. But you are in New York & placing a 5 figure bet with confidence will not be hard to do. You are resourceful, no doubt.

WarmDeck would make a great casino host. Please offer him a reference and credit him with bringing your whale ass to Mohegan.

Sanlmar has it right. Check out Mohegan Sun! Foxwoods is only 15 minutes away from there too.

I used to wake up at 3pm eat then work out in spa at Foxwoods before hitting the poker room. I made friends with a casino host who also worked out before entertaining his guests. What an interesting gig this guy had.

WarmDeck if you hit the links & tune up your golf game your obvious charisma and stamina would make you a legendary host. If those idiots had any vision this would be a brilliant hire.

Thanks for all the info! Sounds as if Mohegan is the spot. I actually dont care about shows our clubs. Just gambling , drinking and good food. Definitely the biggest problem I am seeing with East Coast casinos is the lack of sports books. But as you point out that is pretty easy to solve.

I personally think all hosts should have a gambling background from a players standpoint. This is a job I would be willing to do. I do have the golf flaw though. The extent of my golf game covers mini-golf. I have never been to a driving range or even pitch & putt.

Glad you've enjoyed them. If you ever plan on getting down to the reservations, PM me. Could show you around and get you set-up with a room if you need help with that. Also can get you in the right direction for sports.

    Gotta be borgata or mohegan.

Foxwoods hotels are nothing special. Fox tower being the nicest. Mohegan is much better aesthetically and for food.

Thanks. Am I missing something or are these casinos all around an hour from the closet major airport?

For example, to go to Borgata I am flying into Philly and for Foxwoods and Mohegan into Bradleyif that is the case it is what it is, just making sure.

Generally agree with everything posted above, as a CT resident next door to both FW and MS, given the criteria of just wanting to gamble and eat, MS is probably the better of the two CT spots.

FW and MS are about an hour from Bradley, yes.
