Best WHCD since 2006. Although I'm a little biased as I'm a big JKL fan
Edit: Druff, immediately add a [youtube] tag
seconded, JK is god
I was called a fish twice by PLOL but I made my way through the WHCD. I thought Obama did well and I'm not even a fan of the guy, Kimmel on the other hand and I think were forming a pact here is in fact god.
I like Jimmy Kimmel. He usually has a sharp, acerbic wit and flawless timing.
However, after suffering through more than twenty minutes of his WHCD presentation, all I can say is that IMO, he played it safe, was often nervous and never received any huge laughs. He bombed.
If you want to see a White House Correspondents Dinner host who had folks falling off their chairs in laughter, watch Norm MacDonald's performance when Bill Clinton was President.
Norm is sooo damn funny. Epic Norm clip.
I think Seth did better than JK

by far the best ever.
Where were all you faggots back in the day when I was saying Norm was good and Sonatine said he was horrible?
For comedians, doing the WHCD is akin to a poker player sitting at a table with the 8 worst players in existence, BUT two are unbathed with retched breath to your immediate left and right and 6 other people who take 5-minutes to act on every decision: It's painful but highly profitable
I write things about poker at my Poker Blog and elsewhere on the Internets
I haven't listened to Colbert's video yet, and just a bit of Kimmel's. Thing is political humour is awful in the first place. These guys can't let loose in that environment.
Not recognizing Norm MacDonald's humour is puzzling to me. But I guess it's like music, very subjective.
Colbert brought it all out. He was booked for it right around the beginning of his show, and rumor has it, the people booking it actually thought he really was that "person". When he flipped it around and pwned the room that night, Bush's team was none-too-pleased. You can even see it in that video watching Bush's reactions to certain jokes.
what gut is trying to say is that Colbert plays the part of a conservative. Conservatives were so dumb back the that they believed Colbert was a conservative when they booked him. He is obviously playing a caricature of a conservative trying to embarrass them. They did not know this at the time. There were several public statements by conservatives praising Colbert.
Thats the joke. That you could act like a ridiculous caricature, act like a complete moron, and that is what some conservatives actually WANT to hear. They WANT to believe this over the top dogma no matter how stupid.
All conservatives of course are not like this, were not fooled and there are plenty of people that are stupid and vote Democrat. They are not liberal however.
