    *** OFFICIAL *** Druff & Friends Show Thread for 06/10/14 - Jayjami co-hosts - $35 freeroll

Show begins at 6:30pm PDT on June 10, 2014.

    Jayjami is co-hosting tonight.

You can listen by going to our Radio tab above, or clicking here: http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/radio.php

Call in number: (775) FRAUD-55 or (775) 372-8355. Make sure to show your caller ID, or the phone system will not let you through (you will probably get a busy signal)! You can also call our mountaintop number (an old '70s phone sitting on top of Mt. Charleston) at (702) 430-1808.

You can also text Druff at any time before, during, or after the show, at (702) 623-1423.

You can follow along and interact with us in our live chat room, by clicking the Chat tab near the top of the screen. You need to be logged in and have flash capability on your computer to see the chat.

    We have a freeroll tonight!

    Freeroll info
Tournament Location: NoFraud Online Poker Room
    Tournament Date/Time: 7:10pm PDT on 6/10/2014
    Tournament Type: NL Holdem
Tournament Buyin: FREE - it doesn't even cost you any play chips!
Tournament Prizes: 1st: $19, 2nd-15th: $0, 16th: $16. I will send this to you by PayPal, bank transfer, cash, or check. PM me after you win to claim your prize.

The following generous donations were received for this freeroll:
    fatman548 $9
    BUBBLES $10
    Anonymous $16

There is no tournament password. Go register now! There is no late registration (software doesn't have that option) so register early!

    *** IMPORTANT ***

To qualify for the freeroll, you need to have registered on PokerFraudAlert by June 1, 2013.

If you are a lurker and still want to play, you must PM me or e-mail me beforehand and explain how long you've been listening/lurking, and tell me some of your favorite anecdotes from the forum (either here or DD) or the radio show. If you fail to do this before the tournament, or if you send me some generic bullshit like, "I think the show is funny. I like the show", you will NOT qualify for the freeroll, and your prize will be given to the next qualifying finisher. If you were an old-school regular user from NWP/DD who I remember, you will automatically qualify even if you weren't registered by 6/1/2013.

Alternately, you can donate a minimum of $10 to the freeroll, and you can also qualify for this and all other future freerolls by doing so.

You will also automatically qualify if I remember you from NWP/DD, provided you are not banned from this site.

I am doing this in order to prevent freeroll-hunting leeches from using our site for our freeroll money and then disappearing.

Anyone who does NOT qualify for prizes will be effectively taken out of the prizepool, and everyone will move up a notch regarding cashing.

    Agenda for tonight:

    - Attack at the Rio? European player badly beaten, robbed in parking lot. But is there more to the story?

    - Rio employee in charge of single table satellites shakes down players for money in order to start game

    - Negreanu/Ivey bracelt bet update: Still alive, Negreanu showing up well, Ivey bricking

    - Yet another "two aces of spades" in a deck in a Rio cash game

    - Ari Engel confronts Cardplayer owner Barry Shulman about Lock during WSOP

    - Chris Ferguson latest to be removed from WSOP Amazon room banners

    - David Williams speaks about Choice Center, Chino Rheem apparently now part of it, too

    - Was Dutch Boyd's "twoplustwopoker.com" really just a parked, automatically-registered page?

    - Venetian denying Pokernews covering events

    - PPA article claims 95% of poker players support Pokerstars coming to legalized California market

    - Annie Duke gives business advice in Forbes article

    - Editorial: Think critically before reacting to poker players' claims of violence & theft

    - Please suggest other good topics if you don't see them here!

    - We take your phone calls at (775) FRAUD-55 or (775) 372-8355

I won the tourney. You can roll the money over to next week's freeroll or use it to help offset shipping the hats and shirts. Whichever you would prefer.

Pretty sure that's the whole point.

Druff, when you have a co-host get/let him talk. I know you're not used to having one but no real sense having him there if he doesn't talk for 20 straight minutes while you ramble on.

edit: Of course this is probably easier said than done when you don't even know you're gonna have a co-host.

The shows with co-hosts are generally better, and it is good the range of co-hosts you've had on lately.
When faced with a difficult decision, ask yourself "What would Micon do?", then do the opposite.

PFA Rookie of the Year Awards
    2012: The Templar (unknown)
    2013: Jasep $5000+
    2015: Micon's gofundme legal defense $3k begging for 100k:
    2018: 4Dragons
    2019: Dutch Boyd: Mike Postle
    2020: Covid19
2021: SMIFlorida and some sort of shit coins for $50k
2022: BDubs leaks chums club info
2023: 22nd Feb 4th Dec Youtube channels removed
    2024: Dustin Morgan wins Chrissy's $1000 contest

The co-hosts are welcome to interrupt and speak whenever they like.

I do most of the talking because I set the agenda myself, and know what I want to say in advance.

So it's mostly a format of "Druff talks and the co-host reacts", which is a bit different than the other shows I was part of, where we would discuss the topics beforehand, and all of the hosts were very talkative in general and rarely sat quiet for long.

I agree that the show is better with a co-host. It also gives my voice a bit of a rest. Talking nonstop for 3-4 hours straight is harder than it seems!

My comment isn't meant to be a hard criticism as evidenced by my last sentence & the bolded above was kinda what I meant by it. It's pretty hard to give a guy the lead on a subject if you don't even know if he's gonna co-host until airtime. That being said, with a guy like Jay, who has a lot of experience being around & playing WSOP events, you could have rolled the dice & given him the lead on a WSOP related topic & reacted to him. It may have opened up more of a debate. Just a thought for the future.

BTW, I thought it was a pretty good show & Jay did well as co-host. He seemed at ease on the air, which is very important, but he has to fix the sound at his end because it seemed like he would drift away from the mic at times making it hard to hear.

Hockey Guy just wants Druff to "drop the puck and play" like a true NHL fan.

Druff is more in favor of a scripted outcome which is more like the NBA.

Druff and I literally did the show on the fly. It is difficult to establish a rapport with someone in a short period of time. Since it is Druff 's show, I was a little hesitant to interrupt him. I'm sure if we did it again, it would be better now that we've been on air together. I'd like to hear a variety of co-hosts. I think it provides a balance to Druff, who can be quiet opinionated.

FYI, I don't have a lot of WSOP experience. I've played in only 13 events since 2007. My first jaunt was in 1999, where I got killed playing single table satellites. I had to face up to the fact that I wasn't as good as the TJ Cloutiers and Tony Mas of the world. I vowed to work on my game, build my bankroll, only return when I was ready, and entering a $1500 event wouldn't affect my bankroll. My results have been much better. Over the years I've done well at single table satellites and chopped up main event satellite. I too fell into the no-limit craze. It wasn't until I entered a limit event in 2011 that I had my first cash for a 2nd place finish. I only have one other cash, 43rd in this year's $1500 pot limit event. I think the fields are softer in these events. There are a lot of good no limit tourney players, but they are clueless in limit and pot limit. I've actually played pot limit cash games and in over 100 limit hold'em tourneys, so I feel I have the best of it in those events.

I have been playing as an amateur in CA and Nevada for over 20 years however, so I've seen a lot: the growth of hold'em (first limit and then no limit), the death of draw games and waining popularity of stud, the emergence of tournament poker, the TV boom, the boom and bust of internet poker. I am probably a bit a a dinosaur, but I hope you all got something out of my appearance that benefitted you. I had fun doing the show.

The problem is that I'm only a moderate NBA fan and a big MLB fan.
