RIP Rick from The Young Ones

Rik Mayall, donk down at age 56.

Apparently he was never quite entirely recovered from a quad bike accident in '98 that had him in a coma for 5 days.

    Cod piece face!

    What did you say?

    Cod piece face!

    Ohhh, sod it.
Scarier to me that he was 56 than to know that he died I think. I just never saw him as that old.

    LOLedit, Youtube had it:

British show that aired on MTV in the late '80s, for me it was a show that I was basically living at that time and seeing that it was a bunch of blokes from half way across the world woke me up to the fact that my experience on this planet was not so unique. Oh, it's funny as fuck too.

It was much funnier when I was like 15 years old and thought living like them was something to be enthusiastically pursued.

But it is not without its charms regardless.

Great window into the band scene then as well.

Now that americans can handle Brit shows like "House of Cards" there's a vague chance Rik Myall's "The New Statesman" can be made for an American audience.

Show was so unique for its time. Absolutely loved it.

That said. If it was re-released on today's younger generation. I doubt they'd get passed the first episode.

Surprised to see it was being aired outside the Uk at the same time too. Had no idea.

Later Rik, you made a difference.

As I probably mentioned before, NZ is a dumping ground for Brit, American and Aussie tv shows, most are good but some are terrible.
