    nvidia display driver keeps crashing

I have had this crash like 5 times today. 4 of the 5 times it was only for a second or 2 but the other time it just didnt respond and I restarted my PC

Basically the screen just goes black. Here is the bubble it shows me when it recovers.

I am running windows 7. It did this a few times last week so I updated windows because there was an nvidia update in there. Also PC gets sorda loud when it responds

Any help is appreciated. Here is the bubble

tried DL an earlier version, will see if this works, after doing a little research this has worked for some and not others. Seems some others have had this problem just never end.

Try a system restore and pick a date from a couple of weeks back.

    Also run sfc /scannow

Might be a faulty GPU getting hot. The noise will be fan cooling. Install speedfan and check temps. Do you have an integrated GPU or a separate card?

BetCheckBet: first thing I thought of as well. Rare to get these crashes when not running some intensive program.

Agree with Belly. Last time that happened to me it was the video card crapping out. Fan on it died. If doing a system restore and uninstalling/reinstalling the driver doesn't work, time for a new card.

China, open the case and see if there is a bunch of dust on the vid card, especially the fan. If there is, go get a can of air or use a compressor to blow the dust out of your machine. I clean mine like every 3 months. Dust can kill a computer.

Ya I thought of this this morning too. I think the inside could use a decent cleaning. I tried another driver also and will see if that will work as well. If that dont work I will do a restore

    My two unedumacated cents.

1- do you use a external display with laptop?

2- if so, make sure the plug in for the external display is pushed in firmly.

I had this same thing happening because I hook my laptop up to a 32 inch display. The male cord has screws to anchor (for use with desktops only I guess) but my laptop does not have the female screw holes. Took me a month to realize that if the cord was loose and got jarred, it caused my display driver to stop and recover, and sometimes caused my pc to crash altogether. Was a real pain because it was happening during SNGs and ranked MMO games. I have since learned to compulsively make sure my external monitor is always firmly plugged in before gaming.

Good luck on fixing it. Cheers!

Might have just needed a good cleaning. I hadn't opened the case in a while and cleaned it. It has 3 fans going inside.

Oh yes, I was running bad, and and the wizard was not doing his job helping me run good so he was demoted from under the right monitor to a spot next to Yoda

I made a move to the bullpen and brought in a lineup of 3 Buddhas

Seemed to be the correct choice too as I think I had my best 72 hr stretch since 2011
