Phil Ivey, who rumor has it has been away from the Rio the past few days killing it in some local cash game, sat down and found himself in a hand right off the bat. After the hand, Ivey explained to a few people around the room where he'd been the past few days.
"Sometimes you got to miss a tournament or two," he said with a smile. "It's just what the situation calls for."
Likely won enough for craps + the bet.
Looks like DN in 56th and PI in 69th out of 75 left in the $10K stud 8.
(At the start) This one had me the most worried out of everything but the 1 drop.
Negreanu has 31,400 chips and Ivey has 18,900. They started with 30k.
It is a limit event and the chipleader is German phenom George Danzer, who has 237,800 chips.
A very slim connection to this thread. I've just been out for 8 hrs spent£80 in the pub/bar ,£60 on other stuff, watching Holland/spain games.20 minute walk home, 15 mins no problem, last 5 mins I was in agony just about to shit myself, I mean when you're about to give up, thought of DN/PI thread and made it home. If you win or lose I'm donating a $100 to the freeroll. I'm not proud on many levels.
cmoney :It would be nice if Mexico could simply get human feces out of its drinking water
Ivey just busted. Negreanu with 40k stack with 46 left, average being 87k.
Thank you, Norman Chad!
"...we do know that when Negreanu got the last of his chips in, he held a pair of sevens while Chad had deuces with a 6-5-3-2 low draw. Chad ended up making the low plus two pair for the high. Negreanu bricked out, and Chad took out one of poker's most beloved players."
Today's first order of business: Let's all root for Daniel N. and Phil I. to NOT receive first-round byes in the 10k Heads Up Event today.... Matches start in less than half an hour.
(Edit: Wouldn't it be hilarious if they faced each other in the first round?)
Damn, only eight first round matches.
Olivier Busquet-Steven Saris
Faraz Jaka-Cary Katz
Igor Kurganov-Serkan Kurnaz
Don Nguyen -Brian Rast
Zach Hyman-Daniel Steinberg
Joe Cada-Ashton Griffin
Brock Parker-Jacob Baumgartner
Paul Volpe-David Peters
Everyone else gets a bye.
Besides this first round, they will be playing from 128 to 64 and then down to 32 today.
Interestingly, the 16 playing that first round get $5000 of their buyin back
When faced with a difficult decision, ask yourself "What would Micon do?", then do the opposite.

Both Danny and Phil made it into the top 128 [table 40 and 59 respectively] if they both keep advancing they'll probably meet in 3 tables (where's bracketgeek when you need it)
With that said, Danny is leading his table, and Phil is losing on his

Daniel Negreanu @RealKidPoker 9m
Won my first match in less than 30 min! Caught him bluffing in a big one early then finished it off. Hand details tweeted to @DNChips
Ivey won, moves on to day 2 round of 32.
DN still playing.
Wow, they ended up playing down to 16 last night... I guess the matches went more quickly than expected.
Ivey busted, but Danny Neg is still in it. He faces heads up specialist Tommy Chen in the round of sixteen.
The eventual bracelet winner will have to win four in a row today.
According to the lastest 2P2 Pokercast Ivey is doing very well in cash games and has therefore lost interest in bracelet events, apparently he's no longer entering anything with a buy-in < $10K.
