Hi. Dont cock bomb me. What is your opinion on the Ben affleck story? What does it take to get noticed by casinos, and why do you think he got noticed? His fame, or was he that good?

Lurked for years and you cannot inherently answer this question for yourself?
Thanks for the cock bomb
Yup. No wonder why the site is bunched with the Beam and Coke drunk, and the bitcoin fag. Guess I will go acroos the street and learn about cruise ships and some shitty dog pictures. Thanks.
CF,

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't have much of an opinion.
Ben Affleck learned how to card count (possibly from Annie Duke, sadly).
He probably had a better chance of getting away with it because simply being Ben Affleck provides a distraction. That is, nobody suspects he's going to do it, while a math-looking guy in his 40s like me is pretty much the prime suspect in such endeavors.
In this case, the attention he was getting for his fame probably worked against him, as a sharp-eyed pit boss (or someone in security) noticed the telltale signs of counting -- raising your bets after a lot of small cards roll out of the deck, and lowering your bets when big cards come out. It is actually quite easy to tell who is a counter when you're looking for it.
I do think it's annoying that the press is failing to define what card counting really is, and many people came away believing Affleck was cheating.
Not that I give a shit about what people think of Ben Affleck, but it makes all other card counters look bad when the public believes we are cheaters.
I wonder what limits he was playing. If he played very high, that's another reason he got caught, as they watch those games closely, no matter who you are.
Then he actually got away with it for longer than he should have.
Anyone else trying to bet $10k per hand AND card count would last about 5 minutes before being booted. He likely benefited from his fame, as pit bosses were thinking "OMG Ben Affleck" rather than watching his action closely.
One thing overlooked, however, is that he was card counting incorrectly, and was allowed to "get away with it" at the other properties for that reason. Incorrect card counting will often still result in -EV play, thus sharp-eyed pit bosses will still allow it in some cases, while others will eject you at the first sign of card counting.
One of my favorite Joe Sebok stories was from Reno in 2007. I was card counting and getting all kinds of heat from the pit bosses (and eventually got booted from the game), while Sebok was betting higher than me and nobody had eyes on him. We played for a short time at the same table, and I got to witness his play. He was making all kinds of mistakes and had no clue what he was doing -- only had the general concept of raising his bet after low cards coming out and lowering it after high cards. I saw Sebok around the casino later that day, and told him I got barred from the game. He arrogantly said to me, "That's because you don't put on a good enough act, like I do. I didn't make myself look like a card counter, so they didn't have interest in me." (This was before he joined UB, by the way.)
He was right about one thing. He didn't look like a card counter, because he wasn't one -- or at least not a winning one. That's why they let him play and left him alone, while booting me. I have had similar experiences with other bad "card counters" in poker bragging to me that they never get caught, when in reality they just are playing clearly a -EV strategy, so the casino lets them believe they're getting away with something.
I counted for six years (1991 - 1997) in Reno and Lake Tahoe single deck games without heat. Wound up winning tens of thousands of dollars. It appeared I was playing a -EV strategy and allowed the casinos to believe they were getting away with something. My count relied on blackjack frequencies. Normally blackjacks appear 4.83% of the time. When my count indicated a 6% blackjack rate (a 1.17% advantage) or higher, the bet was pumped up. The beauty of my method is it reflected -EV at times with casino surveillance who were using the Hi-Lo Count to determine advantage play. It wasn't till I hit Vegas in 1997 when the heat came down. The bastards!!! I was playing the 6 decker at New York - New York and won 4k after 13 hours of drinking beer and counting. Then the hammer came down due to my method being similar to Hi-Lo with more decks played.
Since then, I've been using my baccarat count as revenge to those greedy bastards in Las Vegas. Have had success and the casinos have left me alone at the baccarat tables wondering what method is being used. As in the film Rambo, the Las Vegas casinos should have let it go and allowed me to play blackjack. Now their $1 billion dollar a year baccarat business is in jeopardy once the cat is let out of the bag. But as in any good thing, it must remain a secret until the objective has been met.
Here is a realistic goal

Nope, when he won $800K playing blackjack at the Hard Rock it was before he met her.
Affleck met Annie Duke at Commerce Casino a couple years later.
Recently, when Ben was playing at Wynn/Encore they didn't really give a shit that he was card counting,
however he was winning and they entered an alert in the computer system.
When he went to play at the Hard Rock, they saw this alert and had his play stopped immediately.
