    The end of donkdown?

It has been down for several days. Someone asked Micon about it on Twitter and he said this......

    Bryan Micon ‏@BryanMicon 16h
@finn1145 the @DonkDown project is on hold for a few weeks while I nuke a box and move to another. It will be back in a few.
From this it seems Micon is running DD from his own box instead of leasing server space. Guess that saves $ but I dont see Micon putting any effort into putting it back up, esp since nobody goes to that ghost town anymore. Only real motivation for him to do this is to do that radio show nobody listens to, but I bet this shit stays down for months and Micon just concentrates on Seals. The one shitty thing about DD being DD is that we can't go look at old HOF threads for old times sake, but I guess it has been a long time coming to put that dead old dog down.

@finn1145 DD was giving everyone VD for a while. More trojans than a latex-themed porno shoot. Going to clean thoroughly before firing.

The coder is too busy installing some new malware scripts and once they are perfected the site will go back up.

We joke about this, but it's not too much of a stretch. Given the percentage of his traffic that has undoubtedly been bitcoin discussion related for the past year or so, there is probably a good chance to go after the bitcoin stashes of people dumb enough to store them on their laptops or other devices instead of on a usb device. I'm kinda pissed that I'm not smart enough to have pulled this off.

Druff or c$ should make an offer for the HOF, VIP and Shooting off content. Micon will probably throw in Druff and Vegas' forum content for some seashells and beads.

Rackspace is just a hosting provider that have tons of servers and you rent a bit of them for not much money.

You can check which hosting company is used out by finding out the IP address of the site (use dnsstuff.com). For donkdown it is 184.106.244.186 and then doing an IP lookup (again on dnsstuff.com) and that IP points to rackspace.

Too bad Jasep isn't here anymore. He could have answered that question. Among his other crimes, he paid $4.95 per month for rackspace on Bluehost, and then hit up Brandon and China for their "part" of like $35/month each. When questioned as to why the site was so slow, he made up some bullshit and blamed the hosting company.

    Nope.
Yeah I just caught myself. I've been on a project working directly with Brocade switches. Everything looks like a Brocade switch to me right now.

Ahhh. Been a couple of years since I had to work on Brocades. IIRC we had relentless issues with OOB protocols (eg DHCP) and some horrific spanning tree meltdowns before we ended up moving to something else, which brought on a whole new cast of nightmares.

On a completely unrelated note, my kids want to know why you have a naked black man in a Pokemon costume as your avatar. They always have a good chuckle while I'm browsing.

I guess what I want to know is, why don't they have a naked black man in a Pokemon costume as their avatars?
