**Official Streaming Media Players Thread - Reviews & Recommendations**

Looking to buy a streaming media player to stream HBOgo, Netflix, Youtube, etc.

Have narrowed my search down to 3 devices: Roku3 ($100), Roku Stick ($50), or a Chromecast Stick ($30)

Initially was interested in the Roku3 but saw that the stick does almost everything the 3 does at half the price.

The Roku Stick would be the front runner but in the reviews I've read the remote has an annoying lag/response time that makes using it almost unbearable...

Which led me to the Chromecast Stick. The cheapest of the bunch but has a fraction of the content that comes with a Roku, although it does have most of main apps/channels you'd use the Roku for (HBOgo, Netflix, Youtube).

Anyone have experience with one or more of these devices?

I love my Chromecast. Netflix is money on it.

Of the choices you mentioned I'd probably go with the Roku 3.

I bought the Chromecast and Netflix was the only good thing about it to me. I was really hoping that the screen mirroring would allow for streaming video to the tv from my laptop but it was just not fast enough. As is right now, my Samsung blu-ray player takes care of Netflix and Youtube but will also play downloaded movies off athumb drive so I'm happy with it.

I cast the WWE network from my desktop with great success.

Multi-million dollar app for the Steam OS consoles if you can write it. Maybe get C-Money to invest? Everything tech he touches seems to turn to gold.

I have the apple tv thing. It's $100 but is gold and have never had a problem and they keep adding apps

My smart tv can do most of the same stuff too but for some reason some of the shit on neflix floats in and out of HD on the smart tv so if you dont have a smart tv then probably wait but I might be missing some setting

I have the same problem from time to time then I founf this on the Netflix website. A lot of the time on Netflix, it will lower the picture quality on the HD content down to 480 SD if it detects a lack of bandwidth to keep from freezing and having to rebuffer.

If you meant viral like AIDS, you might be on to something.

Roku 3 imo. Not familiar with the Roku stick features (I believe it's very new), but with the Roku3 you can plug an External Hard Drive in to it so you don't have to stream over wifi, or you can hook it up to ethernet.

As far as the Stick remote lagging, does it do that with both the physical remote and the remote app? Because for my Roku I find myself just use my phone app as a remote because I always lose the physical remote.
