I remember when it came out. We are talking about buggy/slow ass shit that crashed all the time but still it was a revolution it it's era.

That was like the only browser I believe I ever used on a dial up connection so to be fair it may have been a quicker or more stable for people on T1/ADSL type of lines then it was for me.

Since I was in my teen years at the time it was also like "OMG!!!! I CAN SEE HALF THIS GIRLS BREASTS!!! COME ON YOU DAMN MODEM, HURRY THE FUCK UP!!!!"

I definitely remember rocking netscape, it got the job done at least for its time. I remember we had to get a second and even 3rd line for the house because everyone was online all the time and nobody could make calls etc.

But the game changer was when the cable guy came over and installed cable internet, I remember sitting there thinking this fucking crazy! Went from downloading single songs to whole cd's pretty quickly and my head exploded when I downloaded some movies.

Yup. I remember using NCSA Mosaic before Netscape. I actually lived just a couple blocks from the NCSA that Marc Andreeson wrote the code that would become both products.

Who remembers having to use Trumpet Winsock in order to get on the web from Windows 95?

Anyway, Netscape was superior to Internet Explorer, until Microsoft sabotaged them by purposely introducing crashes into Netscape through Windows updates. This is little-discussed and was never proven, but was pretty obvious to me. Netscape became unusable and eventually fell out of favor. IE became a dominant browser finally (after many failed attempts to purchase Netscape by Microsoft), until Chrome came around and immediately grabbed much of their market share.

IE has always been a slow, poorly-designed piece of shit, by the way.

I remember having to do it from Windows 3.1 LOL

IE sucks balls. I didn't know Microsoft deliberately sabotaged Netscape but I'm not surprised.

Oh that's right, it was Windows 3.1, not 95.

I used Mosaic as my first browser back in 1994.
