Neverheeb update 4/22/12

The most complex/challenging piece in rehabilitation is creating a whole new life where before, there was a drug life.

A drug life revolves around giving in to the part of you that is sick, and surrounding yourself with people and circumstances that enable that sickness.

A new life requires distancing yourself from all that the old life offered - and it is imperative that the person find a job/career that has nothing to do with the old existence, as well as a social group in this new reality.

Gambling cannot be a part of this if it's going to work. That is why the only successful rehabs are the ones that provide job training and placement for their residents.

Did Heeb go to a good rehab? After rehab he has to go to a 'safe house' where they put him to work, teach him job skills, and surround him with a new community. I know we talked a few times briefly about this via email when Heeb was recovering, but we didn't go into too much detail. If he isn't getting this kind of environment and structure, then it's all a waste of time unfortunately, and he will fall back into the same old patterns.

I sent you some details but I can do so again.

The place he is at I hate, he seems to like though. It's a fucking low rent flophouse for drug addicts some of whom use here and there some are court ordered etc. A few guys have lived there for years because the rent is cheap.

I hate hate hate it.

Job skills? No. Job placement? No. He's just got a shit room with a curfew no one checks and he can't have people in his room. OH and he's piss tested twice a week. That's probably the extent of it really in essence, urine sampling and a curfew at night, and no one in your room.

Can he move to the Bay Area, like up in the north bay? We've got to get him into a place that actually delivers the product.

I can technically get him anywhere in the damn country if you have a valid place he can go. His dad pays the bill and from what I see, the sle Dan picked:

is two miles from a card room
1.5 miles from heavily populated drug dealer hangouts
has weak rules almost not enforced at all
very little involvement with the recovering addicts. in fact, some have been "recovering" almost a decade for $550 a month
Is a mile from the freeway, which puts him less than 30 min away from a multitude of crack dealers in EPA

His dad would run with the above and take solid suggestions very seriously.

You can draw conclusions on whatever but ultimately, the site of guys more or less disgusts me, tbh I don't really take the gay accusations very serious.

Yeah he is and does, I was under the impression that being a twink was more an attitude, but I could be wrong, In my day we called them flamers, but I guess that's either not politically correct anymore or I am confusing what the word actually means and never researched it to find out.
