Clicked link to a poker site and then i get STDs on my laptop...

Ive played poker for almost a decade online, dont go to shady porn sites and am fairly competent in computing. I know not to click ANY link that may be a virus ESP on the laptop i make money from.
I play on an online site almost exclusively that we will leave out of the thread. A respected member of the site and ambassador of a poker fourm had approached me in chat to go to a private chat. I blew off the 1st attempts but seen he was telling others the same and was interseted to see what he said. I then go to his poker forum because i dont skype or other forms of communication. He IMd me telling me about another poker site and he would give bounus to go there and then sends the link. I right click the link and it takes me to a page filled w words and numbers all jargon. Immediately my virus protection sets off all the bells and whistle. My protection then quarantined these viruses.

I ran multi scans since and they were all clean. So when i approach the guy in chat he bascially blows it off. Leaving me to press the issue in chat to get him to respond and where he says it wasnt on his end and 150 other poached players had clicked the link he had provided.

But did they?? did they get the same EXACT link thru his poker fourms IM? no

I then do a lil research on his fourm and find there have been other virus associations with this new site. I presented my case as to what EXACTLY happend in this thread and every response i got (from the site mods) were that it is a false positive. Which it may be

I got back to original poker site and the guy who is at the center of this is making a mockery out of this situation and telling me that i am out on conspiracy island. To me that is not sumone who should be making light of a VERY serious matter. if keylogging and superusing were unprofitable it wouldnt happen and Im looking at this as if sumone is trying to steal from me and my job. So i had to shutdown the laptop and refrain from playing poker on it.

Prior to this ive seen the guy make thousands of trades and I believed WAS reputable which is the ONLY reason id click the link. But his actions to discredit me and mock the situtation has made me think sumthing is more afoot at the circle K these days...

any insight or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Don't be an ass and leave out all the names. Tell us what site this happened on, who the player was, and what site you were sent to that gave you the computeraids.

At the VERY least, post the addy of the site that gave you the HIV. Otherwise, your story helps nobody, because everyone already knows (including you, but you had some sort of brain fart, I guess) not to do what you did, but people do it anyway, so at least report where it happened to you.

i had originally stated that i downloaded the software but meant to say i clicked the direct link chazley had given me thru GAB Im. I was quite pissed and not thinking clearly and should have been more exact.

Hello, I have taken the approach of avoiding this issue only to not give it validity, but since this is public record I'd like to put out a quick statement, and that will be the end of it.

I have records that show I gave that link to numerous other people, however in a stroke of bad luck after Zombi did not have Skype or Jabber, we had to go through my site Grindabit's chat PM system which does not log PM's. So, Zombi has used the excuse that I gave him a unique link, not the one listed above, and I personally attacked him out of the 700+ impressions we have gotten using that link. Every person on our main poker site has heard his side of the argument, and even after repeated assurances the link is safe and offers to help him out, he simply disregarded all of it and went on a verbal rampage attacking me and Grindabit. We are simply an affiliate site, and I gave him an affiliate link.

My reputation is spotless, every person has been on my side, and Zombi has disregarded all other suggestions.

I see your taking this a bit more serious today and not mocking me of the whats and whys sumones motive would be to superuse my laptop. Where there is money there is corruption and your naive attitude towards this is whats most alarming.

3 other viruses claimed on the site yesterday. While lurking in the background in chat i see Chaz and his buddies still think this is a joke. So i immediately call him out and he dissappears for the night. This morning ive been offered help from sum a trusted seal but they have done business with him in the software sector and I obv can not trust anyone outside of my own circle to look at the laptop.

So i decided to open the laptop and do a 4th scan and it has another pup

i dont even have google chrome on my laptop

im having my friend (teckie) look at the laptop if there is anything he can come up with.
I really dont know what to think about the sitution at this point
