In Chicago Until Friday- Any Recommendations

Long story but got here today. Bad day to get here as it is snowing. Took me an hour to get a car from Airport and another hour to get to my hotel.

At Ritz Carlton downtown which seems to be in a good location. I am by myself so looking at non fancy food options, like good pizza, sandwiches, etc. I dont have a car.

I dont mind doing shit by myself like museums or anything else that is cool to go see.

Here until Friday night then off to Vegas for UFC.

btw, cmoney underdog lock of the year Sara McMann over Rhonda Rousey. I believe it is around +320 now.

    Is that a wormhole lock?

Tons of great pizza in Chicago it really depends who you ask. I haven't been to Chicago in forever but the places I liked the best for pizza were Gino's East and Giordanos.

Art Institute is close to you.

    Have you been to Portillo's?

They have them all over, so there should be one nearby. The Italian Beef sandwiches are excellent, but you can find a lot of those in Chicago. The real reason to go is the Chocolate Cake Shakes. They make an excellent chocolate milkshake, and then they throw a huge slice of fantastic chocolate cake, with icing, into the blender. I've never seen anything like it.

Micon used to live near a place called Capt'n Nemo's. It's a somewhat standard sandwich shop, but executed amazingly. Also fantastic Italian Beef. Try the turkey chili. Now I'm seriously considering having a few pints of chili shipped to me in dry ice.

either get an Italian Beef Sandwich from the Portillos or Al's beef in the northern section of the River North area. Both are great. I like the Portillos fries extra well done.

If there is anything specific you want to know about, post and we can give more tailored responses.

If you want to try something a bit different, you can take the Blue Line L train from downtown, North west to Logan Square (its a small hipster area with some of the best food in the city) and try some food/drinks at Longman and Eagle. It gets great reviews from all over the US and you can sit solo at the bar and try some of the whiskey they have (one of the best selections in the city). Another great whiskey place, which Gallo also loves, is called UNTITLED. Its just north of the river on Kinzie. Its an old "Speak Easy" type of place. That whiskey selection is sick. Several hundred bottles apparently. I got a Moscow Mule there and it was excellent (not a big whiskey drinker).

Paris club is pretty hip. Club upstairs, dinner downstairs.

If you are anywhere in the city where a HAROLDS CHICKEN SHACK is located, you should probably leave.

They opened an Al's Chicago beef in my area and I had to try it out. Overall, I was really disappointed with the sandwich. It turned out to be a expensive, flavorless mess. I would think the original location would have better sandwiches, tho.

Chicago celebrating ZERO SHOOTINGS this weekend!

odd story about Als Beef. I have never had a bad sandwich there at either the one in River North or south of UIC.

I had Buona today for lunch in Rolling Meadows. Very good as well. Mozz and sweet peppers.

It should be warming up over the next few days. If you're in to 'nature things' you can check out Lincoln Park (the park and the neighborhood). Go visit the Lincoln Park Zoo (it's free, though many of the animals won't be out during the winter, but there's indoor areas). Just north of the zoo is the Lincoln Park Conservatory (also free and cool to walk around). And then north of that (north of Fullerton) is a nature museum. Once you're in that area, there's a lot of great food options for dining alone along Clark street between Fullerton and Diversey. Fatty's Burgers' is a great hole in the wall place, with a friendly owner. The Pasta Bowl is another great/cheap option that I feel very comfortable eating alone. Del Seoul (Korean BarBQ that tries to be more on the fast-food side) is also very good, and always popping. And if you like sushi, Toro Sushi is right there and supposed to be one of the best, but I think it can be hard to get in w/o a reservation. Those are all if you're in that area

Took you an hour to get a car but you don't have a car? Lol.

Anyway, There are tons of great places near you. My personal fav is the Pump Room(Old Rat pack hang out) in the Public Hotel. If you are looking to get sloshed, it could be fun to hang out at Ceres in the CBOT building. Legendary stiff drinks for the idiot traders/brokers who just lost the house.

My fav pizza is Peqouds, but near you Lou Malnatis, Geno East, or Giordano's are all Chicago originals.

Over here it would be a Happy's Pizza or a Miley & Miley Shrimp Shack.

If you are at the ritz Try Hubbard street or walk a little north to the Viagra triangle. Try gibsons. Eat in bar area. Good people watching. For casual Italian try Mario's 21 west Goethe. It's a locals place. Rosebud is good Italian near you. Club lago is cheap Italian near you. Erie cafe is a cab ride but old school Italian/steak place.

Rl is my favorite place near you, but I don't think it's an alone kind of place. Have fun. It's a shitty time of the year to be in Chicago. Acquarium is best museum to go to, art institute is good, field muse fine as well.

Stay indoors and drink. Others can tell you good bars. Most of the bars near you are going to be clubs or fancy places.

Go to Hammond (catch a free shuttle)

I would tell you to go to Manny's but without transportation that would be a bitch.

If you did decide you wanted something fancy for dinner you could do Ditka's it is within walking distance. I would try the bone-in ribeye.

Go wander around Water Tower it is across the street.

If you want a cafe style, great breakfast, try Yolk. It is on Wells and Chicago less than a mile west of where you are.

You are right by the Hancock building it has an observatory on top it's like $20 bucks but you can get a couple cool pictures on a clear day. (It's the black really tall building right near you).

Go down to the massive Macy's on State street and buy some Frango Mints, you'll thank me later.

yikes. She's not even a very skilled fighter, and even though she's a wrestler, she has virtually no mma ground skills, and we've yet to see her accomplish anything on her feet. Watch her last few fights. She's so not ready for anything like a title shot, there just doesn't happen to be any other viable, marketable competitors. If it weren't taking place during the winter olympics, I doubt Sara would have even gotten the fight.

+320 is far from a bargain in this match.

edit: opposite pick, obv. has to be.
