Anyway, here is a good LA Times article about online gambling possibly coming to California at some point soon:
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-f...#axzz2tXIHuTMF
That ad is horrible on so many levels.
If you have legit licensed companies online running casinos or poker rooms within state borders then what are they talking about? Online Gambling is not even close to federal regulation yet so this ad is irrelevant.
Sure people are lobbying both ways but those in favor of federal regulation are bringing up the point time and time again that you would keep dollars in here the country from regulated sites ran fully in the USA minus some outsourced support which shouldn't happen but is for sites like WSOP.com. Regulation = Protection.
The one issue the government always will have is with sports betting that will never be legalized fully in the USA so people will continue to bet off shore.
From the video:
"Online Gambling will give criminals across the world a foothold in every American household attracting criminal activity not only at home but Internationally".
Why??? If ran by regulated American sites with extreme background checks to acquire licenses which likely all going to big named casinos how is this true?
They talk about kids being able to gamble,etc... That all falls on age verification software which is quite good so far although some geo location issues remain and parental responsibility.
The video also talks about gambling without borders but again irrelevant if sites are fully operated in the USA.
Identify theft? That can happen with anything you do online.
Money Laundering for terrorist organizations???? LOL, once again background checked and fully licensed American sites.
"An established al-Qaida poker network could extract enough untraceable money from the United States in just a few days to fund several 9-11 sized attacks"
Again, federal regulation wouldn't allow a bunch of International licenses and people would be more inclined to not play on the current offshore sites for their poker and casino needs. It's funny that they would even say such a thing so stupid yet at the same time give terrorists ideas on how to raise capital. .
People are going to gamble regardless and still do online. By having regulated sites they could be sending out W2's each year as a requirement so the government will be able to account for taxable dollars in this that should be coming in to them. Just as long as we don't see some ridiculous law like in Greece most people are fine with that.
“People are going to gamble regardless and still do online.” - I agree. Most especially now that many online casinos are emerging. People have different options where to gamble and with bitcoin integration, gambling is a lot easier for them.
