    $250k event iin Australia

Is there starting to be tons of money at the top of the poker food chain again?

37 entries in the $250k with some players buying in 2-3 times.

    http://www.pokernews.com/live-report...50K-challenge/

Is pokerstars fronting the bill for Negreanu, Mercier, Haxton?

Who is buying in Dwan, Ivey, Seidel, Juanda? Rich Asian businessmen?

What about Bonomo, Esfandiari, Isildur? I know Antonio "won" the 18 million but did he really take in more than a few mill after tax/paying backers?

Lots of piece selling/trading going on for sure in this.

Nine more people entered today which most were re-entries from Day 1. Super degen to get in it today starting with 250k in chips at 10k/20k blinds.

One thing that always bothers me about watching poker on TV is how many times the announcers talk about guy paying x amount of dollars of their own money to enter the tourney. It's really disingenuous because they know that's not the case. In the original 1m one drop I think Sam trickett had 25 percent of himself in that event (just my conclusion from watching a series about him though no amount was ever truly mentioned). it's like some dirty little secret that isn't talked about, guys are always evasive when asked about it directly and never want to talk about it. Most of these guys couldn't afford to play events if they weren't staked because they don't have a pot to piss in blowing what little money they get on dumb shit

I wouldn't be unhappy taking home just a few mil.

I see Dwan is the current chip leader with two tables left. Jungleman is probably his biggest cheerleader.

Tournament poker isn't exactly his forte. I'd be betting against him winning it all if I could.

I doubt Stars is "paying" for their buyins. Negreanu said he uses his own money which I believe to be true and prob true for Haxton and Mercier as they are sponsored too. Haxton has also made millions in cash games.

Seidel and Juanda have huge money from FTP and dont they have huge live scores too?

There were rumors dwan was broke but even if they were true he still plays in the big macau games so I would assume if its not his money then he has a nice backer.

If Ivey is broke I dont think it would be hard for him to find backing either.

I don't know what kind of roll you need to play these but if you have 250k you have enough to play 1 right?

Stars is not putting people in high roller events for $100k or $250k. Many of these are never televised or if they are it's just too expensive and lacks the excitement of someone blowing through a few thousand player field.

They might put them in the Aussie Millions main event for $10k or hook their pros up with travel/hotel expenses to go as long as they are wearing the patch.

    From Pokernews:

This is the fourth year of the $250k Event. Here are the details from each year:

    Name: aussiemillionshighroller.PNG
Views: 423
Size: 7.8 KB

Of the eight remaining players at the final table here are their lifetime MTT cashes stats:

    Name: mttalltime.PNG
Views: 532
Size: 14.1 KB

It also tilts me whenever any poker media site states this as "earnings" when that is never the case unless they track all the losses players have had throughout the years.

I believe PokerStars would do anything for Daniel Negreanu.
Pay him a $1 million dollar salary + whatever poker buy-in's he wants to play, at any level.

If Daniel wants to play in the $1 million one drop buy-in at the WSOP, no need to sell pieces of himself, just ask PokerStars and it's done.

If Daniel wants Liv Boeree to suck his cock, no problem, PokerStars will make it happen.

Don't you wish your were a big shot cock sucking sponsored poker player?

DN in for 3 bullets & sold 20% of himself(not sure if for every bullet). He basically has to finish 4th or better to make any money. Crazy shit to say the least.

He's in three bullets here and the next pay is 800k so he might make the exact same amount.
