    bj and roulette theory

So I got a friend of mine into online gambling recently and she had played live table games and poker at a minimum. Well once she played table games online she screamed SCAM, but then she tried thinking of a strategy and testing them with play money and she came up with this.

Start out betting $5 for example in roulette, and bet on red. If you lose, double your bet and place your bet on red until you win. You would double your bet each time until it hits red and then start your bet back over at $5 and repeat the same cycle. She says she tested this theory with play money and shes winning a couple hundred an hour. I know you would need a decent roll to do this, and there could never be a max bet, which i know online is usually 500 but if you're betting on colors red/black, you wont ever need to double your bet all the way to 500 if you bet the same color over n over. I mean sure it could happen, but doubtful.

Can someone punch some holes in this theory for me please.

Do you mean besides every martingale theory or taleb distribution ever discussed since the 18th century?

Don't even try to martingale any online casino game. I know many people that have and got destroyed for it including myself years ago in my dumb degen years.

A bit off topic but I play poker or have played on most of the sites that still accept Americans and have my casino blocked on ACR, Bovada, and Carbon. Every site when I ask them to block their casino they try to tell me it's not possible which clearly they are hoping I will accept that answer and go play those games sometime. My reply is always to threaten to cashout and go play on sites that will block the casino then all the sudden the support representative says to me "Sure, we can block that for you sir".

This is called negative progression & can also be used in blackjack. It works great until you inevitably lose 12 in a row.

The only casino game that I play online ever is caribean stud. It takes a ton of discipline to play though and you have to be willing to fold pairs and not tilt when your two pair gets beat by a better two pair or 3 of a kind. It's one of those games that I can play at 10 bucks an ante and not tilt or get too frustrated when I get a full house and dealer doesn't qualify My stop loss is usually 250 on it and rarely get to it. I'd luv to play it at the casino but it's so damn slow live and I'm not sure many places even deal it off the strip. I used to crush it at Carib sports before they turned into a shit book and only play it now at betonline for a quick 75 - 100 bucks which I use to try and hit 3 team parlays with like a freeroll

The fountains in front of Lock headquarters weren't built from poker rake.

It is interesting that the self exclusion option is never offered anymore. Causes me to wonder why casino exclusion was ever offered by any site in the old days.

As everyone said above, your friend is using a "Martingale" strategy that will lose in the long run.

    It's a "reverse insurance" situation.

Your friend will book a lot of small wins, and then eventually a huge loss that will wipe out all previous wins.

Martingale strategies are only good when you desperately need a small amount of money within a short period of time, and where the consequences of not making that money will be dire.

Like let's say you need to give your landlord $1200 tomorrow or be evicted, but you only have $1150. Let's further say you can't find anyone to lend you the $50.

If you went into a casino and Martingaled roulette, you would be MUCH more likely to win that $50 than lose your entire $1150 stake. But in the long run this wouldn't work -- eventually you would take the big hit.

If you like to count cards using Martingale as a cover is one of the best covers out there.
