Looking to get a tablet and dont know shit about them looking to spend around $500. Not a huge fan of apple so wanna go windows 8 or android. I live in Mexico but am gonna buy it from the USA will I be able to get a data plan down here in mexico or how does that work? Main use will just be twitter streaming sports games and playing on pstars. Any help be great. thx

I qute like Windows 8, but only if you want to combine work with pleasure. For a tablet I would go iPad or android. If you are ruling out apple then it is android.
So Google Nexus 7 / 10 would be a good option.

I have this offbrand Android tablet and it's great for the money(less than $200 tax incl). It runs web, apps, and Netflix with no problems. The speakers suck so earphones are a must for movies. Only downside is that it is wifi only does not have 3g or 4g capability so wouldn't fit your needs.
The only drawback on ipad is the lack of flash compatibility. I've got an ipad mini and ipad air and like them both. the ipad mini really needs headphones to listen to movies and music but the air is fine without them
I have the Kindle Fire HDX and I gotta tell you, as far as tablets go, it's pretty much the shit.
Granted, it's the only tablet I've ever owned, and aside from an IPad it's the only tablet I've ever really used, but even with my limited knowledge of tablets, it's still pretty much the shit.... IMO.

Agreed but in the app store you can find some flash enabled apps, photon was an app I used from time to time. Bought it for cheap like $2 but honestly it was incredibly difficult functionality wise and if you aren't on WiFi fucking forget about streaming any sports with it.
This is one of the main reasons why I went Android and really haven't looked back
