Olympics in Russia... anyone going?

I have been to Russia a few times and 95 percent of it is a shit hole.. Everyone looks miserable (probably because they are). Even Putin who is worth 70 billion and owns the country always looks pissed off and miserable. They especially do not like Americans but pretty much dont like any foreigners. The Russian people are the most unfriendly I have ever come across

Throw in the shit weather, the fact they hate gays, the chance to be bombed, I have no idea why anyone would think this would be a fun trip to make.

Sochi is a particularly good example of the shithole that is 95% of Russia......even the billions that Putin has spent wont be able to cover that up but it will be interesting to see if the press goes outside of the venues to cover any of that.....aside from St. Petersburg you can have that place......and that part of the Ukraine around what was Chernobyl is literally uninhabitable......estimates are the radiation levels will be approaching safe for human habitation in about 900 years.....

Seriously, why anyone would want to go to this is beyond me. What the fuck was the Olympic committee thinking when they awarded 2014 to Russia? This could turn out to be a disaster on so many levels, in a lot of ways it already has.

They did a great piece on this on 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime. The amount of corruption that went into the decision to put it in Sochi and and all that followed was unbelievable. This is where Putin likes to vacation, but the majority of Sochi is ghetto, and we're talking Africa ghetto. They had to build up the town to look presentable, which meant building giant walls to shield the ghettos from the $90 BILLION 30 mile stretch of road that they just built. Why $90 Billion, which works out to something like $60,000 a foot? It's a friend of Putins' who won the bid to build it, just complete and utter corruption. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Def watch that shit if you have Showtime.
