    UFC in person experience

So they just announced UFC is coming to my city, and it is going to be one of the better cards too with Jones vs Teixeira main event. What I am wondering is how good a live experience it is, how much I should expect to pay for good seats etc. Any other advice as to where to sit, where good value seats are etc would be appreciated.

I can't imagine watching from the upper deck of an arena, just seems like it would be so far away to see the action would be pointless. Although I should mention the arena here is old decrepit and tiny, only holding 12,000 people or thereabouts.

But anyway is it worth spending the $200 or so I am guessing for good seats? Or more? Again I have no idea, but tickets go on sale Feb 7th and want to plan a little bit if possible.

I was in the nosebleeds when I got to see BJ Penn fuck up Diego Sanchez. The view isn't great, but to me it was all about the experience of being there. Crowe Diddley had floor seats to a show not too long ago so he probably has good insight.

IMO, much like live WWE shows, I would assume that if you aren't in the first 2 rows the best seats will be on the first riser above floor level. These put you up high enough to see over the floor people when they are standing and this is also the first level that starts the stadium step up style so you are also seated above the person in front of you. These are prob in the $150 to $300 range. I think actual floor seats are going to be $500 and up.

Yeah there is no way I am paying that for floor seats, but $150 - $300 is about what I expected for some good seats pretty close. The seats that let you see just over floor seats sound good.

In this arena there are zero TV's in the upper levels, so that has to be considered as well. It is a complete shithole.

I have bought 1500 tickets a couple of times. Even with seats that expensive you end up looking up at the big Tv quite a bit.

I have stopped going to UFC events. I rather spend 300 on bottle service and watch it on a huge screen at one of sportsbooks and use the rest of the money to bet on the fight.

I was 11th row for UFC 9. Our eye level was even with the floor of the ring. It was kind of hard to see all of the action due to the octagon cage, and the trainers standing up in front of us. Id rather be in a balcony looking down.

Also, dont dress like a douche in UFC/BADBOY/AFFLICTION shirts...you are only going to draw attention from those types who want to fight you. We saw I think 8 fights in the ring, and 17 fights in the crowd.

I sat a couple rows behind Joe Rogan's announcing booth which is right on the floor and even though they were 'great' seats and close to the octagon I didn't like them. You couldn't see the action when the fighters were on the floor unless they were against the ropes in front of you. People would constantly rush up the isle and stand in front of you to take pictures. You ended up watching the jumbotron during most of the fights. On the other hand between bouts Joe Rogan would talk to us, Herb the referee did as well. The between round UFC chicks just kept to themselves. It was a good one time experience but I would rather be looking down on the fights.

Sick brag, I went on UB's dime. Flights to Vancouver included.

I don't think this matters, the UFC will have a handful of large screens to handle that shit.

That's the balls. I won my way to a Bellator event through them. Cheat-site promotions rocked!
First off, no matter where you sit in the building, on the floor, the lower bowl, the upper balconies, whatever, you will have an obstructed view of some part of the cage. There are the corner posts, the top padded bar, the cage-side cameramen, the ref, there's always something that can obscure your view for a few seconds or a few minutes, depending on how the fight goes. You are going to end up watching a lot of the fights on the screens above the cage or wherever they happen to be for you, but that's not really the worst thing in the world. It's just part of the deal. With that said, you obv get better views of the cage from some places than others, but nobody has a perfect view, or anything close to it. If two guys are grappling in the corner with their backs to you, it don't matter where you sit, you are gonna be watching the screen.

With that said, they seem to give you a lot of freedom when you are sitting on the floor. You can wander around without dudes checking your ticket every 5 feet, every single famous person there is happy to be giving autographs for long stretches between fights, you can stand by the entrance aisles and try to steal yourself a fighter's walkout hat, you can shoot the shit with Bruce Buffer for a minute and get his pic if you want, all that shit. If you have a lot of fast finishes on the undercard, you'll be thankful for all the distractions, because these events are pretty f'n long.

So is the floor worth it? Probably have to wait until the actual prices come out to know, and obv whatever you want to cap your spending at. I'll make this comparison between 2 different events I went to in the same building. There's the floor approach, where you get to be closer to everything and get to feel more of the event, or for similar money, you could get meh seats, still be in the building watching the same big screens as everyone else, and spend the difference on your pregame drink/drug of choice. I had a blast at the UFC event on the floor, but I also had a blast at the WWE's King of the Ring in 2000, same building, but we sat somewhere like 5 rows from the top of the place. As nosebleed as it gets. The major difference was that we got SHITFACED across the street before we went in, and were drunk through the whole show. Before the night was over, I was bodyslammed on a table, stole one of the commemorative folding chairs from the $400 seats on the floor, and sold it to a 14ish year old kid for $50 cash, which then went towards more shots and drinks after the event. Totally different experience, but such a fun time. Which way is the correct approach? Maybe a combo of the two, with mid-level seats and moderate drinking. Hard to say. But the biggest thing to remember with the UFC is that your view will not be perfect, but the "EVENT"ness of the thing should make it worthwhile.

this is my trip report of the FS1 event last august. http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...l=1#post188237

I think I had a thread about this a while ago. I had seen Kosheck v Diaz fight when they came to NJ.

First off security, in my case, was very lax which was very surprising. I was able to bring in a six pack of beer and some snacks as well. My friend brought a poland spring with vodka and cranberry.

The best seats are the ones that are not to high where you cant see anything and not to low because then you can see the people in the cage as the octagon blocks your view. The best view is middle 100's or wherever you can see into the cage, if that makes sense.

I went to a UFC event back in the day and it was basically aerosolized testosterone sprayed in an arena. I was fresh out of the Marines and saw a buddy from high school and by buddy from high school I mean some fag that I hung out with even though he was a complete bullshitter (fun fact: I told him a story one day of how I had bought beer and the clerk carded me and sold it anyways and the next day he tells the same story to a different group of people.....while I am in the car. derp).

Anyway whoever said there were more fights outside of the ring than in was right, it was a bunch of mean mugging and dudes in wifebeaters talking about how the Navy Seals wanted them to join and shit. Pretty ridiculous night. I got bombed and banged the bartender

I went to a local mma event with my cousin, and like halfway through I said to my cousin I feel like every dude is eyeing me up thinking its just me and he felt the exact same way. Put a bunch of meatheads and mix in alcohol and shit will jump off.
