    Vegas 2014

I thought it might be nice to have a centralized Vegas 2014 thread.

I am going to be in Vegas five times this year it looks like so I should be able to keep this thread alive with questions and other meetup opportunities.
This blows out of the water the most times in a year I have been to Vegas.

    Tentative Schedule

3/14-3/16 - Cubs play two games in Vegas for Spring Training. Already booked this one.
Depending on game time on Sunday might not make it to both games.

WSOP (if schedule stays relatively the same as last year.)

Second weekend for $1500 HORSE and $1500 OE8

Go Home if I don't run deep

Monday after third weekend PLO8 three barrel tournament.

    October 19th-23rd - Friends birthday

    December 21st-24th - Work Party

    2014 Vegas To-Do's

Stay in Bally's new Jubilee rooms.
    Bellagio winter display
    SkyJump off the Strat

What are the Jubilee rooms at Bally's?

$1500 HORSE, OE8, and PLO8 should be relatively good tournaments to play if you're good at those games. However, keep in mind that they are very card-dependent, and it is impossible to win in any of them if you don't run at least somewhat well. On the bright side, you will get a number of NL donks who suck at non-NL-holdem games. In all three of those events, you need to exploit the donks as much as you can before they all inevitably bust. This means if you just play an ABC style in the first 8 hours, you probably aren't going to do very well, unless you get great cards.

Jubilee rooms are the re-done South tower rooms.

I can get comped at them 7 days a week, which I can't get Saturday comps at Caesar's.

PLO8 tournaments are consistently the worst played tournaments I have ever seen. Cards are always important but it is part of the reason I am glad they made the PLO8 a 3 barrel tournament.

I'll be in Vegas April 23rd-28th. Tentatively staying at Aria unless I can find a killer deal somewhere like Bellagio where some friends are staying.

Booked Brad Garrett Comedy Club for Sunday, April 27th(free ticket promotion from MGM properties) & will also do Zarkana or Ka or maybe Love another night.
Would like to do Andre's in Monte Carlo & maybe Wolfgang Puck's. Of course I'll check out the poker room @ Aria too.

    Any thoughts on the Aria?
How does it compare to Vdara other than no casino @ Vdara?
Is it connected to that monorail that goes from Bellagio to Mandalay Bay?
Is there a way to walk from there to Bellagio without going to Las Vegas Blvd?
    TIA

Aria for me is top top. Vdara is very nice as well. The only thing room wise is that Vdara has a kitchenette and its own fridge so when you want to take whatever you had left from that nice dinner back, you do not have to worry about contacting salmonella. I usually go with Vdara while on loner business trips because it is much quieter and less chaotic. However I have had a few issues with the front desk. It also has the advantage of being a 30 foot walking distance to Aria and Bellagio.

You are getting the monorails mixed up. There is the main monorail which goes from MGM Grand to what was the Sahara which you have to pay to use. Go to lvmonorail.com for more info. There is a City Center monorail which goes from Monte Carlo and Aria where the poker room is located to the Crystals shopping center and then to Bellagio/Vdara. There is a monorail that is free that goes from Excalibur to Luxor and then Mandalay Bay. You cannot get from Bellagio to Mandalay Bay without walking on the street unless you drive or take a cab.

Yeah, you're right. I have the monorail on that side of the strip fucked up. For some reason i thought it went from Bellagio to MB but there are 2 of them like you said.
