Shocker! College athletes aren't very smart

    http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/07/us/nca...html?hpt=hp_t1

This is why college "amateur" athletics is such a joke. Schools bend their admission requirements to let in anyone who can throw or kick a ball, to the point where they literally admit illiterates.

The NCAA needs to drop their obsession with these guys not getting paid, and establish some guidelines for some sort of revenue sharing. Also they might as well drop academic requirements, because obviously there is so much cheating/BS going on that none of this is being adhered to anyway.

The NCAA wants to believe a perfect world exists where all athletes are also serious college students who are just representing their school, but the current reality is that major college sports are just training grounds for the pros.

Are the folks who bet on the athletic performance of 19 year old college athletes exempt from the Mensa qualifying test?

What you're proposing is a professional minor league system. For some reason everyone takes it for granted in baseball, but it's somehow unimaginable for basketball and football.

The average American adult reads at an 8th grade level. I don't know why anyone would expect the average football player to be smarter than that.
