Lakers are a disaster, but at least they can't regret dumping Andrew Bynum

    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10...ward-team-says

He's suspended -- first unpaid, now paid. He's apparently distracting the other members of the Cavaliers -- and we're talking about a 10-20 team here, folks.

I was never a Bynum fan when he was with the Lakers. Always inconsistent, and his attitude was perpetually lousy. He didn't seem to ever mature or fully develop.

While the Dwight Howard experiment was a disaster, at least the main piece they gave up (Bynum) was going to be a huge fail anyway.

On a side note, Lakers castoff Trevor Ariza is having a pretty good season, and they could really use someone like him right now.

Lakers are atleast 5 years away from any kind of team that is competitive. End of story.

    Besides I hate basketball.

I like it....gives them flexibility in the next two summers which are the most important if they are looking to sign someone big to turn it around.

Problem is you're trying to convince mega stars to sign for slightly less to play in LA because they gave Kobe so much.

can they lure a FA out there?

id get the popcorn ready if 'melo signed out there...kobe might not be the alpha dog any more, but he might kill 'melo for all that iso bullshit he runs...

lakers could have a huge offseason in 2015 (kd,westbrook, & love) they gave kobe that 2 year deal just so fans have something to watch for the next few years. look at who they have on the books and for how long its not that bad of a plan. What they really really need to do is tank this year and get a good lottery pick in the best draft in quite some time

Carmelo is a cancer. Do not want.

It would be great if they could offload Gasol's contract (or even Nash, but I'm dreaming now).

The Kobe extension was incredibly stupid, but was done for the idiot fans who don't know better. They should realize that the fans will show up even with a no-name team taking the floor (seriously -- look at their attendance numbers now despite the lineup of scrubs!)

Kobe had a great career and was an amazing player, but between his age (35), years of play (been playing since he was 18), and injuries, he's pretty much done.
