Michael Schumacher former 7X F1 champ on Donkdown Watch

Dude was skiing in France and apparently his head had a close encounter with a rock.. Currently in critical condition post brain surgery due to hemorrhage. Based on previous history of others with similar injuries its decent chance he gets his plug pulled..

Unfortunately Michael Schumacher's condition hasn't improved overnight. He's still an arrogant German cunt.

Not looking good. My first reaction to hearing this was 'why wasn't he wearing a helmet?" but he was.

Was never a fan of his but there's no denying he was a great driver. Hope he pulls through.

I thought he was a bit of a cunt as well, but those who know him well say he is a very nice, kind man.

    cut and paste from wiki

"Schumacher is a special ambassador to UNESCO and has donated 1.5 million Euros to the organization. Additionally, he paid for the construction of a school for poor children and for area improvements in Dakar, Senegal. He supports a hospital for child victims of war in Sarajevo, which specialises in caring for amputees. In Lima, Peru he funded the "Palace for the Poor", a centre for helping homeless street children obtain an education, clothing, food, medical attention, and shelter. He stated his interest in these various efforts was piqued both by his love for children and the fact that these causes had received little attention. While an exact figure for the amount of money he has donated throughout his life is unknown, it is known that in his last four years as a driver, he donated at least $50 million"

    Also

"He donated $10 million for aid after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. His donation surpassed that of any other sports person, most sports leagues, many worldwide corporations and even some countries. Schumacher's bodyguard, Burkhard Cramer and Cramer's two sons were killed in the tsunami."

First update to his condition in a long time. He's being moved to a rehab facility & is out of his coma.

Schumacher left the Grenoble hospital Monday morning, said hospital spokeswoman Brigitte Polikar, who declined to give any details on his condition.

He was transferred to the Lausanne University Hospital, near the Schumacher family's Swiss home. Hospital spokesman Darcy Christen confirmed the 45-year-old German was admitted but stressed that the facility wants "to ensure that he and his family fully enjoy privacy and medical confidentiality."

They're not saying a whole lot.
Is he still on a respirator?... can he talk?
It's good news I guess, but I think he's still in bad shape.

    It says in the article:
"If he's been released from the hospital he was in, it means he's able to support his own breathing and bodily functions," said Dr. Tipu Aziz, a professor of neurosurgery at Oxford University's John Radcliffe Hospital.

It's more likely to mean there is pressure to free up his hospital bed then proof he's breathing by himself.

That's one of the stupidest statements I've read, and coming from a professor that is not treating him, or even certain if he has been released.

People with all sorts of injuries leave hospitals on respirators... I'll wait for an official announcement.

Schumacher has an estimated net worth of eight-hundred million dollars ($800,000,000,000). I doubt he was forced to leave because there was "pressure to free up his hospital bed".

It's ridiculous they chose to interview Dr. Aziz, professor of neurosurgery at Oxford University's John Radcliffe Hospital, for this interview when we have an actual expert right here.

Did they not have your contact info?

Hospital beds are for those who require treatment, I'm quite sure he's medically stable and there is nothing "medically" further they can do for him.

You don't need to be a brain surgeon to realise his statement is ludicrous.
Firstly, he is NOT treating him. Secondly he's not even aware if he has in fact left hospital as he said "if he's been released" and thirdly people leave hospital on respirators all the time.

You're right, he has close to a billion dollars... more then enough money to spend 10,000,000 pounds on a medical suite at his home.

Do you think people who are severely brain damaged remain in hospital forever?

Michael Schumacher reportedly remains in a coma following his skiing accident late last year, and good friend Sebastian Vettel recently spoke emotionally about how he remains haunted by what's happened to the former Formula 1 racing driver.
Vettel spoke to German magazine, SpeedWeek, saying: "It's hard for me to talk about it. I'm still shocked. Michael's accident shows can change things such as fast."

Recently there have been a number of updates on Schumacher's condition, however, most have only gone to adding confusion as to his current condition.

There were conflicting reports, with some initially stating last month that Schumacher had awoken from his coma and had even recognized his wife.

However, those reports were later rubbished by journalist Nicola Pohl, who insisted that the world famous race driver was still in a coma.

Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm said earlier in April in a German broadcast that they planned not to give public updates anymore once Schumacher returns home from the hospital.

Kehm said, "Our plan and our desire would be that from the moment in which Michael can go into a rehab clinic, this media coverage will stop."

His manager also said recently, "We remain confident that Michael Schumacher will make it through and wake up."

Even though Schumacher is still fighting for his life, he is shockingly still facing a lawsuit filed by a Spanish biker regarding a road crash that took place weeks before his fall.

The alleged victim is asking for compensation for a broken wrist, his damaged clothes, and damage to his watch and motorbike in the alleged road crash on November 17.

If the trial is approved, police have confirmed that the German F1 seven-time title winner will not be obliged to attend court hearings. Investigators are also looking at the poor road lighting along the roundabout route that possibly caused the collision.
    ------
Removing him from hospital has been on the cards for a while!... but of course this professor who's not treating him knows better hey? LOL

    Somewhat encouraging news about Michael.
    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formul...er-can-4395046

And just because I'm a smart-ass who likes to say 'I told you so'.... he IS still on a ventilator!

"Schumacher’s medical team at the purpose-built mini-clinic at Gland is made up of:

Kai Schnapka, 35, his long-term physiotherapist who leads a team of three charged with massaging his muscles which have wasted during the months of immobility, trying to coax co-ordinated movements out of him during his limited moments of awareness of his environment.
They are supported by four carers responsible for turning, cleaning and feeding him, cleaning his mouth, eyes and skin and changing his catheters.
There are three nurses, each working an eight hour shift as he is never left alone. Their primary task is to watch out for the urinary and airways infections that are the greatest risk to patients like him in a state of “minimum consciousness.”
There are two doctors on call around the clock, monitoring physical and mental progress. Both are trained in neuropsychology, the study of the structure and function of the brain as they relate to specific psychological processes and behaviors.
An airways management and ventilation therapist is on hand to regulate the machinery he still needs to breathe for long periods of time, particularly during the nighttime hours. This respiratory therapist (RT) is responsible for setting up the ventilator, doing the daily checks, changing ventilator settings based on physician’s order and performing general ventilator maintenance.
Not based at the house, but in constant video and telephone contact, is Gérard Saillant, a physician and friend of Schumacher. He is the founder and president of a brain institute and operated on Schui’s broken leg suffered at Silverstone in 1999. He was formerly the chief of trauma surgery at the Paris hospital Pitié-Salpetriere and advised the Brain specialists who treated Schumacher at the Grenoble University Clinic where he was treated for the first 154 days following the accident on December 29 last year.
There is also a security team at the house, beefed up from two to six following a media scrum outside its gates recently which resulted in the local police being called."

Hockey Guy: I don't think I was being a dick in my earlier response but I will admit the ventilator was a valid question & the doctor from the first article was obv a quack..

I cannot think of a worse fate than being paralyzed from the waist down. I'd contemplate bleeding in an ocean with starved sharks nearby than neck down paralysis. Not saying he is out of the vegetable state, but he will not walk again it appears. He will apparently need a bag however.

The whole broken neck freaks me out. I slipped on some ice and banged my head in January. There was little risk given my health and shape, although there was a risk (I was lucky to catch a bench seat and brace before a significant fall so not a big deal at all).

Don't really now the guy, race driver, at all. I hate Nascar so this piece off shit sport is off my radar 100%.

If this guy dies connected to tubes and being fed by spoon, he should have no beef.

He's "lived" a life and that's more than most can say.

I don't think there is a chance this guy would want to be hooked up to machines
