Dominick Cruz Stripped of UFC Belt. Barao now undisputed champ will face Faber at 169 for Belt

Dominick Cruz was stripped of his UFC belt due to pulling out of the unification fight with Barao slated for UFC 169. According to sources Cruz suffered a serious groin injury which wil require surgical repair. Cruz hasnt fought in UFC since late 2011 so essentially Cruz left Dana and Co no choice because 3 yrs out of the cage isnt acceptable and still be champion. Cruz orginally went down with an ACL in late 2011 and then reinjured the same knee requiring a second surgery.. This injury was basically the final straw in a string of bad luck for Cruz unfortuantely.. If we're lucky we might see him fight to regain his title by years end but more likely 2015.

Cruz was dominate prior to all his injuries. He has a tough style that causes a lot of mismatches but I was ready to hammer Barao in that fight but now it probably won't be worth betting since Barao will be a heavy favorite over Faber.

This isn't really a surprise since it's the past two years with Cruz. Oh well, maybe the kid will come back strong one day.
