I haven't watched this but probably will skim through some of it. Many people don't give a shit I know but some of arguments made in these by people who oppose gambling are always lol cringe worthy.

Dude, I was wondering if this was going to be made available on YouTube. I have some shenanigans in mind. Billy Long is GOD.
Thanks for the share.
Curious to know who is gonna wade through this.
There was a lot of chatter about it on Twitter today. I'm sure someone's written something up about it by now, or will tomorrow. It was playing in the office today, but I didn't pay that close of attention. There was a lot of hooplah over Adelson's integrity being called in to question, particularly in the hypocrisy of LVS promoting gambling apps. Stupid misinformed questions about bots and superusing. Anti-iGaming knobs pleading for everyone to please think of the children. My favorite was a congressman from Missouri, that has played in some WPTs, playing dumb and saying stuff like "Chris Moneymaker, his real name believe it or not, won somethin' called a satellite and won 7 million dollars or whatever"
FML. I actually watched this
I thank our representative from Detroit for posting this.
Need to think about what I saw. However, one impression that is clear to me regards PPA Pappas. I have had suspicions and seen some evidence that his representation of poker players interests has been weak to date. His personal presence and performance struck me as subpar for someone who is a paid lobbyist.
His performance was clearly less personally compelling than others who were called in as mere experts. His nervousness - evidenced by his microphone snafu - was embarrassing. This is politics. It is a people game. Leadership and personality win the day. He is an awkward little troll.
AGA was far stronger. Attaboy.
Egart (spell) "consumer protection guy" was ++
I think the pro poker argument fared well.
I guess what really pisses me off the most after watching this is the feeling the government needs to protect me from myself.
Wife just informed me we are going to see "I Love Lucy" live Broadway play Sunday. $200 for tix. $35 parking & the inevitable dinner. FML. Where is the consumer protection here?
If I want to shoot off $350 playing online poker ... I guarantee I will have more fun doing that.

I watched some but listened to all of it (treated it like a while podcast grinding poker) and nothing too revealing to come out of it.
From all the hearings in the past I have seen it appears little by little the industry is gaining more support or people at least coming to reality that online gambling isn't going away in the USA so it's time to make it safer. That one guy saying we should bring back / enforce the wire act is a fucking retard. We are talking about something created before the world wide web existed. That thing needs to go or be re-written for the current era of life we are living in but like many politicians they are stuck spewing family beliefs from 50+ years ago not taken into account the changes in the world ever since.
Also, LOL at the idiot saying they should label players claiming they may be bots in the software as pros so we know who we are up against? Really??? Do a google search (as long as it's not anonymous player names) if you think a guy is a shark but don't label them as a winner scaring fish away.

Then you figure in the fact that anyone can walk into any casino/gas station in almost every state and shoot off every dime to your name and no one would say a word stop you . Logic left American politics long long ago it's only about $$$$ , power , and control now !
Also find it hilarious how many of these so called experts have no clue about the industry they are testifying to congress about ! Lol Merica
Not sure if this is the best place to put this but The Wisconsin director of the PPA is hosting a charity tournament with proceeds going to hiring a lawyer to try and get poker defined as a game of skill in Wisconsin. Doesnt the PPA have its own legal team to do this and not have to ask us players to donate?
The PPA probably doesn't have a lot of money anymore since most of their backing prior to Black Friday was from Pokerstars and Full Tilt. As to how all that money was spent in it's time (private jet and caviar jokes) is debatable and it's hard to say if big casinos are giving them any money to lobby in favor of online gambling.
I know nothing about the state of Wisconsin as far as gambling goes but I always thought most of the casinos there were owned by Indian Tribes and if that is the case it may be tougher to push legislation through.
They are going for a loophole that was used in new york and want to get it labeled as a game of semi skill so theyd be able to open a poker room or run home games/bar tournaments without fear from the DOJ. Wisconsin is allowed to wager on games such as Pool/Darts etc so they want Poker cleared in that aspect. I just dont see it happening but will be super happy if it does because the only casino near me has electronic tables and I hate the shit out of them
The anti-online-gaming forces should look at how poorly wsop.com is being run, and use that as evidence against allowing more legalized online poker in the US.
That one would be hard to argue against.
True, but those opposed to online gambling care more about preventing it completely and not about improving the user experience playing on a poker site.
WSOP.com has several issues but one thing Pappas kept arguing is how no reports of minors playing online have been made in Nevada since legalized online poker started in late April with the geo location and other verification security measures the Nevada sites have taken.
So if Pokerstars are granted a licence to operate in the USA within the next 2 years, what are the chances that the player pool will be segregated like in France, Spain & Italy ?
Long term, are there any plans for a USA wide poker site that will be open to ROW players ?
I would hope that this would be the end result, otherwise if every state is segregated then there will just be loads of small fail sites with hardly any traffic.
