I think they reported Germany in the 90% range for this graphic. That seemed high to me. I think they will go through, but with the strength of the 3 other teams, 90% seemed a little high to me.

I DVR'ed the show. I'll try to replay it sometime in the next day or 2 and report the exact numbers they gave for the group.

If Dempsey, Donovan, Bradley get injured before the World Cup we are screwed. Altidore is having a rough season at Sunderland plus I am not sold on our defenders. I think it is Germany's to lose plus I am interested to see Belgium and their solid young players.

Just went back and watched the tape. According to Nate Silver, the percentages were:

Germany 92%
Portugal 40%
USA 39%
Ghana 29%

He was down on Portugal for 2 reasons:
1. They didn't dominate what was considered a soft group in WCQ (Russia, Israel, Azerbaijan, No Ireland, Luxembourg) 6 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws
2. No true depth beyond CR7

He said that Group B is the true Group of Death (Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia). Also, Group H (Belgium, Russia, Algeria, South Korea) is the softest group in the tournament.
