Holograms have come a long way the last 25 years or so. I remember this game being the biggest thing at the arcade when it came out.

I loaned him the money for them. He was obsessed with buying them pre-sale last year so he would be sure they wouldn't sell out.

Took him like 9 months to pay me fully but I got paid back.

The screen technology has gotten way better as well as HD projectors. The crispness of the look tells me that it may not have been archive footage, but a 3D model that they built. If you've ever been to EPCOT center and have seen some of the holograms there or even the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion at Disney, it's basically the same tech.
