Family Guy "shocker" last night -- info you might want to know (spoilers)

Last night's episode:

 

Last night's episode involved the death of Brian, where he was replaced by an Italian dog named Vinnie. This did not appear to be a gag, but rather a lasting character change. Many fans of the show are pissed off and outraged. There are even some rumors that Seth MacFarlane did this on purpose, to hasten the end of the show.

The reality of the situation (click only if you don't want to be surprised):

 

It's bullshit.

Brian will be gone for an unknown number episodes, but will return later this season.

He is the focus of two already-produced episodes entitled "Brian's A Bad Father" and "Brian the Closer".

While "Brian the Closer" is unlikely to air until the 2014-2015 season, "Brian's A Bad Father" is said to air sometime in the spring.

Interestingly, on January 6 they will be airing an episode entitled "3 Acts of God", which was written and produced LAST YEAR. It was held over until this season, and would presumably involve Brian, unless they edit him out. I have a feeling they might resolve the Brian death by then (there are 4 episodes between then and now). Obviously they thought of this when ordering the episodes for this season.

There are some people who are taking this very, very hard. Saying they are boycotting show, they are done with it, how could writers do this to the very people that SAVED Family Guy. I mean what the fuck is it that serious?

I don't watch Famliy Guy as mush as I used too, but Brian's character was great for the show. Some of the best episodes were of Brian and his adventures with Stewie. Meg and Lois are horrible. Peter and Chris are just to dumb to be interesting.
Brian and Stewie were the best characters on the show. It really makes no sense to kill off Brian.

Brian was the worst character of all, because he wasn't even a character. He was Seth MacFarlane's liberal mouthpeice. He might as well have drawn a model of himself. I stopped watching the show years ago because the preachiness on top of the non-sequiturs made it unbearable. If I wanted to see social commentary in a cartoon I'd go watch South Park. At least they're somewhat even-handed, and far more entertaining.

I remember that vividly,
being like 17, stoned out of my mind, and feeling sorry for the cartoon, thinking wtf is wrong w/me?
one thing to have emotions over a fiction character or an animal, that was the first time I had one for a cartoon.

my bad, with the spoiler fail, but I figured anyone that far down in this thread already pretty much knew Brian's deal, just not the vehicle for bringing him back.
