ULTIMATE BEAT: worse doco i have seen

this is with out doubt the worse documentary i have ever seen and i have seen a few. I have followed the whole UB/AP drama quite closely and even i found this ad hoc hard to follow...it was all over the place

• non existent production values...i have seen better produced programs on ''ella malaka'' an infamously bad greek channel.
• timeline was all over the place, totally confusing
• jarring editing and transitions, especially of audio
• over use of fade to blacks, and fades were for too long
• no back story /explanation on certain characters/events eg recordings, who recorded it

i appreciate his time and effort but this needs to be totally re edited and maybe he needs someone like druff to help him as he has the ability to cut through and explain complex topics in such a way that someone like TMMLK can understand

Implying that you have to watch it for your job... Like I said, humble, but still a brag.

scott bell would have been better off letting someone else edit the doco, get another perspective/input, someone who wasnt so consumed by the whole drama. Bell assumes that the viewer is as well informed as he is.

it's not that bad, you won't mond it. considering you have at least some working knowledge of the players, the thing is easy enough to follow. If you've never even heard of people like mansour matloubi or Joe Norton or the myriad companies (real or shell) involved, I'd imagine it would be a lot tougher to follow.

definitely too much silence and black screens, though. and when the audio does come on, it often starts abruptly, as if the a bad noise gate was involved or something. also, I've only seen the first hour so far.

If someone who nothing about poker watched this they would be lost. I knew a lot about the scandal etc and I was lost a few times.

Agreed. The documentary was 100% geared towards people who know about UB/AP and have followed the scandal a whole lot. If someone just heard about it they will still be confused and even for some people who have followed it a lot their are still several parts in the film that are explained in a way I will call "office talk" where individuals talk in a lingo that they will understand each other but if someone overhears them they will be completely out of the loop.
