and on the LSU QB thing, don't know if it's their system/philosophy/OC etc, but can't believe they can't go right next door and poach some 5A high school kid outta texas, tell him he'd be a god if he lead LSU to a national title...I get that everybody is poking around those programs, but if you are a stud QB, you go to LSU you are gonna be playing for titles because the rest of the team is always amazing...cant believe LSU isn't in there making that pitch...if they are they're doing a fucking terrible job of it...
yeah your right, once the herman/jimbo dream died they figured why the hell not go with the hometown guy that everybody loves...I was sad to see les go...he brought that program back, until he didn't...was probably time for a change after he stopped being competitive with bama and that offense really went straight to shit...
in my fantasy world, hurts woulda told bama to pound sand after 4 games this year, transferred to LSU and gone back to haunt bama...but saban doesn't run that bad...
not gonna do a huge Villanova writeup this year cause I don't think you can get a price, but hell some people got 30:1 last year so I guess it's possible...
im a homer so take that into account, but think anytime you can get nova at 20:1 or better to win the title (im only seeing 14:1 and no fucking way I want it there) you are probably making at least a decent bet...this year is gonna be a lot harder than last year because the experience isn't there like it was last year, however there are still some intriguing pieces...
nova lost: divinchenzo (first round MLW), bridges (first round PHX), Spellman (first round ATL), Brunson (very top of 2nd DAL)...losing Brunson and bridges will be like losing multiple limbs...losing the big ragu and Spellman will be like losing a single limb...Brunson was the POY last year and was an extremely elite college PG...bridges is an elite athlete and was also an extremely elite college player...same can be said for divinchenzo...Spellman was a college freak, 6'10 guy with 40% touch from 3, as a freshman...that doesn't happen too often...
nova returns: eric paschal, junk yard dog player...ESPN has him on their 3rd team preseason all American...I love the kid, hardnosed player...shot 35% from 3 last year, he gets that towards 40, it's gonna be scary...phil booth...think he's been at nova for 8 years, but he was on both title teams...solid player, will provide senior leadership to a team without much upperclassman presence...38% from 3...Collin Gillespie...sophomore PG, missed a handful of games with a broken finger last year...backed up Brunson when healthy...did a great job in the national title game when Brunson got into foul trouble...40% from 3 on minimal attempts...dhamir Cosby-Rountree/Jermaine samules….got about 10ish minutes a game each last year as freshman...will be interesting to see how both developed their games over the summer...
new players: joe cremo...nova beat out a ton of big name programs for this guy...was absolutely giddy that nova got the kid...grad transfer from Albany...dude shot 46 fucking percent from 3 last year!!! don't care he did it in the America east...you can shoot, you can shoot..jay wright's offense LIVES to take advantage of guys who can shoot...again words can't express my excitement for this guy...jahvon quinnerly/cole swider/brandon slater...3 incoming freshmen...quinnerly is a 5* PG...probably will back up Gillespie for the first part of the season...the quicker he acclimates (read: doesn't do stupid shit) to the college game, the quicker he gets to start...will be interesting having to run the show with a SO/FR PG combo...don't know too much about swider/slater...both are 4* guys...from what I remember hearing about swider is that he can shoot the balls outta the ball...not shocking for jay wright to recruit a kid like that...
summary: the only thing that worries me here is the youth, which might move me up to wanting this at 25:1-30:1 or better...nova is gonna be just like last year, pace and space the shit outta everybody and rain 3s down...college still hasn't caught up to this philosophy...can the young guys hold up their end of the bargain and acclimate to the college game by the beginning of march? if they can (HUGE IF), then I love nova's chances in march...gimmie 4-5 guys who can shoot the shit outta the ball in a one game playoff, ill take my chances...it's worked 2 outta the last 3 years so it still ain't broke...
University Nevada Reno . That is the NCAA men's team to watch. They are 100% loaded with talent . They will roll through the Mountain West . This team made it to sweet 16 last year and have same players yet added a bunch more . Eric Mussleman is a professional coach .
They opened the season ranked 7th . For a MW team to be ranked that high I'd say there are many believers out there. If they play to there potential they will easily be a top ten team all year. This team is dangerous to anybody who steps on the court with them.
agreed...just think their price is a little meh though...seeing them at 14:1...returning top 3 scorers and 4 of top 5 from last year...and those 4 guys are seniors...yes, please...those are the teams that beat the hell outta the highly touted one and done factories because they've been playing together for 4 years...only issue is their 3 point shooting is kinda meh for a team i'd really look to target...experience plus the ability to bury a team with a barrage of 3s is the best thing you can ask for in the college game...
14-1 is bland I agree . But is 14-1 telling us something? I guess time will tell. I don't think they will go much lower throughout the season but a the information I've been able to gather is that they absolutely won't be offered any higher . The books are so upside down with this team if they somehow managed to win it all the books stand to get demolished.
Tonight.
Temple +10.5
Ohio -3 -110
Wow - Ohio jumped the fence and now jumped 3.....
Looks like the word got out Milton is playing tonight too - spike in the UFC price.
NOILL/AKR might end up going under the total by the end of the night, but wouldn't have expected 21 points in a little over a quarter...
End of that UCF/Temple game made me phsycially sick. Temple was winning the game the whole first half and covering the whole game until the last minute. Then in spectacular fashion they managed to NOT cover 10.5 points by
1. Going for 2 and missing after a TD with about 5 minutes left, which would have tied it. Which was defensible decision at the time.
2. Allowing a quick TD so they are down 9
3. Going for it on 4th and 20 in FG position for 'reasons' even though because they are down 9 the only play is to try to kick a FG.
4. Allow UCF to quickly run it into FG position and then use their timeouts when UCF is trying to run out the clock, so UCF kicks a FG to go up 12
5. Cant even get the backdoor re-cover in the last minute.
I am so sick right now.
That game is giving me a real bad feeling about this weekend. I have A LOT of action, and I am feeling like I am just going to lose at the end of games over and over and it is going to be a bloodbath. Haven't had one of those weekends in a while, and this is how they normally start out.
I had to fade russo going off on the last two drives...im looking forward to getting fucked this weekend because of it...
I want the forum to know that my entire administration will work closely with Daly’s team to insure the smooth transition of power
