After a very rough start to the NBA year I am 4-1-1 this week and hopefully I am starting to hit my stride in NBA. I will say I think I am gonna stay away from road favorites from here on out. Most of my early losses have been road favorites, who have not only not been covering, but have been losing outright most of the time.
just gonna throw this one out there...hope daly doesn't piss all over this one, but will fully admit this is a bet from the heart which are usually train wrecks...
this is strictly a coins between the couch cushion/a week's worth of starbux coffee type of bets...
when I can get the boys from the main line at around 20:1 or better gotta take the plunge...
before you make this bet know that nova more than any other top ranked team is gonna be reliant on the draw come march...they got absolutely fucked up the ass being the #1 overall seed last year and having to play a tough power 5 team in the second round (Wisconsin) and nova lost a grind out game...Wisconsin was woefully underseeded last year and it showed...but it is what it is, nova had to play 'em, grinded it out and came up a bit short...
if you make this bet you will get (barring injury):
*a team that's gonna play balls fucking out 40 minutes
*a top 1-2 seed come march
*a coach that's been there before, BUT has struggled in march during his tenure on the main line except for the greatest run in the history of basketball in 2016...
*a team that is by far in the way greater than the sum of it's parts...nova has probably one late first round pick (bridges) and a first/second round pick (Brunson) on it's roster...see 2016 national title game...as a whole the talent disparity between nova and UNC was laughable...they had multiple NBA first round picks, nova had 1 definite first round pick (josh hart) and two players at that time who may develop into first round picks but weren't there yet (bridges/Brunson)...
*a team with possibly the most athletic white guy that ive ever seen on a basketball court (divinchenzo)...multiple times last year this guy went baseline, elevated and flushed it...white boy got ups...
team lost josh hart (first round pick lakers), kris Jenkins (was on the wizards summer league roster, now playing in the G league)...the hart loss will be fucking huge...he was an absolutely great 4 year player, fundamentally sound, and a guy who emerged as a leader and developed himself into a first round pick...
however the cupboard isn't bare...returning are Jalen Brunson (son of former NBA PG rick Brunson) who I believe is a preseason all-American...kid is a junior and I expect big things from him this year...he's a true floor general and seems mature beyond his years...Mikal bridges...another junior who is developing into a helluva basketball player...he's a fucking pain in the ass on D, he's like 6'6/6'7, all arms and legs...he's a bitch at the top of a 3/4 court press when jay wright unleashes that...offensive game is developing...hoping he makes that jump this year to be an offensive beast...as mentioned above divinchezo...athletic as fuck, just a sophomore but nova needs him to step up his game on the offensive end...Omari Spellman...nova got fucked outta having him last year due to NCAA incompetence regarding his eligibility...so just a freshman, but he's a 5 star recruit and big things are expected (https://www.nbascoutinglive.com/omar...report)...phil booth...huge loss last year for nova...he didnt play in 2017 due to a knee injury...he's the guy in the 2016 championship game that came off the bench and kept nova in the game...20 points, was a phenomenal performance...his senior leadership and outside shooting will be needed...hoping he finds the consistency from beyond the arc...if he does nova will be dangerous...eric paschal...transfer last year from Fordham...love the kid...just a fucking junk yard dog, hustles and grinds his ass off...typical villanova guy...probably wont play in the NBA, but he's just one hell of a college basketball player...
that's about it...don't bet the farm on this one, but if you want a sweat on a team that's easy to root for nova is your team...last year think they were around 12:1 or something which is an LOL bad price for nova...at 19:1 I feel I'm getting a fair enough price on them...

Chicago has fallen another point, and the under is the public play.
But I think it's the right play.
Barring OT, Chicago play wins (that was my favorite one of the 3).
Say what you will about verminaard, but he is looking correct for staying away from the Minnesota/NO under. It's not dead, but it's on pace to lose.
Denver off to a good early start.
The one thing which could help me with Minnesota is that they are up by 11, so if they blow out the Pelicans early, the scoring will slow down.

FYI I've radically changed my handicapping strategy this season. I took a hard look in the mirror and realized I was an NBA fish, so I basically redid everything.

Lakers coming off a big win in a letdown spot. Also they are playing Brooklyn tomorrow, and they don't give a Shit about losing a road game at Portland, but no one wants to lose to Russell led Brooklyn team, so might be looking ahead.
On the flip side Portland on tail end of a back to back after a loss in OT and Aminu is out.
Could go either way but I lean lakers looking ahead to Brooklyn and getting blown out.
I normally bet college football thursdays but I don't have a feel for any of these games. Might stay away. Probably gonna take jets in NFL, but maybe not.
