Quintana has a tremendous K rate (41 in 25 innings), and his numbers appear far worse than he's actually been. Walks have been an issue, yes (19 so far), but he walked none in his last start. These numbers should smooth out and he'll have his usual mediocre numbers by the end of the season.

No, he’s been awful. I’m not even a hater, a few years ago I used to bet on him fairly often. He just is not good this year. Maybe he will win tonight I didn’t bet it, so I’ll root for you!

It's pretty impossible to be awful and K 41 in 25 innings. The guy is missing bats big time, he's just had control issues and has made some bad pitches. He's also been aboslutely bombed 3 times, which inflated that ERA.

I'm not expecting Degrom to walk out tonight disguised as Quintana, but my 1982 VisiCalc database says he will pitch a lot better than you're expecting.

By the way, Stroman was rolling along and beating the punchless Marlins, but I was a little worried that someone like Duvall or Cooper would pop a HR and knock out the 2-run lead, especially given how shitty it's gone for me with leads being held.

Sure enough, in the 7th, Cooper hit a 2-run shot, and that Mets game is now tied 3-3. Really don't want to see extras because the Mets are on the road, and that makes it really tough to win that new format.

Have no idea the stats so far and not big enough sample size but I think opposite.. They are setting the road team to score right away and if they get 2 or more they can win it. Look forward to see the stats compared to regular extra innings by end of year.

The extras rule is a way bigger edge to the home team. The only exception involves bad teams playing good teams, where they have to do less to push a run across, so it's a bit of an equalizer in that way. But the home team REALLY has a huge edge when knowing exactly what to do with that runner at 2nd.

Anyway, Marlins squeaked by in 12 (!!) innings, so that actually goes against everything I said, but I still stand by it.

Was I right about Quintana, or what? Very decent outing. Allowed just 1 run through 5. Faded in the 6th and gave up two more, but all in all, it was the mediocre performance you'd expect from him. Oddly the strikeouts (4) weren't that great tonight.

Unfortunately, the Angels bullpen blew a 4-3 lead, and are now behind 6-4. Their offense is fairly shitty without Trout, so that's probably a loss, and I'm probably splitting.

Super frustrating with S Y Kim. She almost always improves her scoring throughout the tournament. Opening round 67 really put her in the cat bird seat. Then she let the field all catchup and some overtake with even par yesterday. Then lost more ground with a 3 putt bogey on the first today. Playing the last 19 holes in +1 is really fucking annoying.

She needs to get her shit together today. She has 4 3 putt bogeys. I am guessing they are majority come backers after taking an aggressive birdie putt. That kind of goes with the territory with her. Hopefully they start dropping.

If not I’m going to have to take a hard look at these LPGA golfers at short odds. The problem is at 6-1 - 8-1 you need to have a big hit rate to just tread water. May have to reevaluate if there is much value in the LPGA right now.

So I’ll stand by what I said earlier this week. Niemann is in the top 10 but he’s probably 2-3 strokes too far back go have a real shot tomorrow. Same for Grace for that matter who I posted as 150-1.

Both of which were huge value at this course. I hope the come back here or play other ocean courses for majors.

The refs let you get away with murder. Take it and run. He did the same in Toronto and that's why he's no longer a Leaf.

I don't love betting teams in the 3-0 position. Avs should win no problem but I always fear the home team squeaks out a win.

If they don't finish it today I would load them up in parlays the next game.

Grabbed some Phil +110 as he had a birdie putt on 8. He missed it but I still feel that was great live value. Oddly he taps in for par and the odds fell to -105. I guess every hole completed makes the odds better he wins
