I had two or three friends that got into trouble with books on the street, this was in the poker boom so everyone wanted to play all the time. One guy owned an oil change business and flat out told me in his office he was never going to pay or he would go to the cops. He showed me in his office his online poker account and it had like $20,000 in it. He owed like $10,000 to the street. He said he would simply go to the cops. He paid up in a couple weeks. I lost contact with him a year later but I noticed his place had changed to another franchise. I asked around, something about financial problems and he had to sell. Guy literally was the owner of an oil change place and spent his days in his office on premise playing online poker, now how did anyone expect that to play out? LOL, the stories before the UIEGA or whatever the law was called. I am not judging, I would walk into Atlantic City in 2005 with $3,000 in my mid 20s, wake up in a $70 hotel room the next morning with toll fare so I was no saint.I don’t recall this story. One more fun story, I used to live near Philadelphia and would go to AC, which generally was an hour or so drive. They would actually incent folks from PA to drive over and give them gas cards, this is when gas spiked to $4 a gallon. I would always get a $25 gas card and some free meals and occasionally a hotel room when I played in the pits. I asked why not give just a generic $25 Visa prepaid, they laughed and said they don't want people stranded by cashing in the card for something other than gas. Basically, here is your gas home after we broke you financially now GTFO. That was many years ago. Time flies.
BetonSports back in the early 2000s would bring a big ass Tour buses to all the big games and park in the parking lot where everyone tailgated.. They had hot ass chicks and all kind of food and it was great marketing. You couldn't bet there but they def were one of the biggest outfits offshore back then.
I couldn't imagine if you could of placed bets the money they would of made right on the spot.
They just had 3 idiots that didn't know how to run a book and ended up fucking over a ton of people.
