Just a little personal story about the refs. My father was a Linesmanbut because of a bad back & lack of political skill, Ivy League was about as far as he went. His friend from High School was a Head Referee in D-1 college. He made it to the NFL as a back judge (pass interference/defensive holding) in his 50s. Won’t mention his name but he was terrific and was always highly graded. I think he did 2 Super Bowls. I don’t know the exact numbers but I think his salary may have more than doubled shortly after he took the gig.
My Dad’s friend was a very successful lawyer. When he had a Sunday game he had to fly in Saturday. They would have a couple hour meeting and that’s about it. He then flew back home after the game Sunday. So he did very well for himself. It’s a very very cushy job. He retired a few years ago so I don’t know what changes have happened since. But the NFL needs to change soemthing here.
BTW Linesman is on the line of scrimmage on the sidelines on the side with the chains. Line Jusge is on the other side with a fake set of chains that just mirror the other side.
