    Lets Plan Thanksgiving

We will be hosting Thanksgiving for the fourth year in a row.

Each year it grows (we take in people that have no where else to go and they keep coming back).

This year we are looking at 16 people.

I need some new ideas for the menu.

    Will Haves:

    Deep Fried Cajun Turkey
    Garlic Mashed Potatoes
    Turkey Gravy
    Green Bean Casserole
    Sweet Potato Casserole
    Homemade Wheat and White Rolls
    Lots of white wine.
    Lots of micro-brew fall beers.
    Apple Pie

    In the Conversation:
Always do a second turkey, thinking about a roasted turducken?
    Second Pie

    What else you got?

This was my favorite part of Thanksgiving growing up, my dad's family calls them 'mud daubers', not sure why.

There's lot of recipes for pecan tarts online and they're a good, smaller dessert to have on hand and can feed lots. I found myriad recipes online last year and successfully made them.

Stuffing is the most common item left off the list and is a must have as a lot of people like it.

Bacon Wrapped Mushrooms like these here are good but I'd use cheddar instead of mozzarella:

Mostaccioli and Macaroni & Cheese are a few other options.

Also, ice cream to go with your apple pie. Or to eat separately.

Every year I tell my family that I'm sick of cooking a full on Turkey dinner and I'm ordering pizza this year. Every year they laugh and say not a chance.

I'm thinking about buying up a bunch of dough and doing home made pizzas this year.

A nice boneless honey-glazed ham slow cooked in the crock pot is always popular in my house. My wife has a recipe that include cloves & it is always awesome.

BTW, Thanksgiving is over. It was on Oct. 14th.

    This is a joke Rollo.

    Seriously Rollo, I'm just kidding.

The problem with stuffing is there is no room for it in a turducken.

So then you have to make Dressing, which is Stuffing's poor bastard cousin.

Baked Macaroni & Cheese could be a possibility, I have never done that for Thanksgiving before.

Pumpkin Pie will be there for sure, luckily I can get someone else to make it and bring it.

American Thanksgiving is great. Head out for lunch, have a few beers and never go back to work because football is on.

The only folks that work on Thanksgiving are those who unfortunately toil in retail. Everyone else goes to grandma's. The streets all over the US are like a zombie ghost town by 2pm.

matter of fact, you shouldn't put it in there anyway, because its easier to cook the bird (or birds) evenly without it, and it tastes just as good (if not better) prepared on its own.
