I think this Retail Fraud Prevention award is fake.

I can't find anything about it -- or even previous winners of it.

I bet Iovation awarded it to themselves.

Not surprising, given who's in charge there.

Greetings PFA patrons. This is my first post here. Enough with the pleasantries.

The IOVATION story expands today and it is not good for America. The poker community really needs to step up and keep on this because Iovation is moving operations away from poker and into every facet of your personal financial history. How do you feel about giving your social number and entire financial history to Greg Pierson? Well you better get used to it. I'm getting ahead of myself, but I am NOT exaggerating at all.

Let's take a closer look at this "retail prevention award". It was linked here at PFA from a "news" story at fibre2fashion.com. But fibre2fashion is not a true news site, it's a hub for companies to issue press releases that look like news stories/editorials. Fibre2fashion calls them "advertorials":

"Advertorials are promotional advertisement written in editorial fashion, describing an advertising message presented in an editorial format. This form of advertising is used to offer information about the new products, promotions, technological advancements in existing services, etc."

    http://www.fibre2fashion.com/service...-solutions.asp

The "news" they published about Iovation is here - http://www.fibre2fashion.com/news/te...news_id=154600.

But if you go to the Iovation web site, you will see that the so called "news" story is copied virtually word for word from an official Iovation press release, which you can see here:

    https://www.iovation.com/news/press-...evention-award

Furthermore, the fibre2fashion.com disclaimer states: 13. News & Views:

All News/Views, Articles and information in News & Views section of "fibre2fashion.com" are derived from sources which we consider reliable. The sources may be Press Notes, Notifications, Websites, Portals, Newspapers, Magazines, Journals, Bulletins, and Periodicals etc. The information gathered from the different sources is passed on to the viewers without any responsibility on our part. Similarly Opinions/Views expressed by third parties in abstract and/or in interviews are not necessarily shared by fibre2fashion.com.

So this is nothing but a deceiving advertisement - aka advertorial - issued by Iovation via fibre2fashion.

That is bullshit of course, but this gets much worse as we find another clue at the Iovation press release that was clipped from the fibre2fashion "news" story. The Iovation press release states: "The Retail Fraud Awards is a competition run by Retailfraud.com, the number one retail fraud and loss prevention resource in Europe." Whereas the fibre2fasion "news" story only mentions "Retailfraud" missing the ".com".

The Iovation PR also tells you that the award was given at the 2013 Retail Fraud Awards in Leicester, England, another detail left out of the fibre2fashion "news" story. So I went to retailfraud.com looking for a reference to Iovation winning the award. At the site, it becomes clear that the Retailfraud.com awards are simply a glorified form of advertorials just like at fibre2fashion, but the retailfraud.com award operation is a bit more intricate.

I expected to find that Iovation was either a "SPONSOR" or "EXHIBITOR" who paid to be at the awards convention, but I did not find them listed as such.

However, Experian was an exhibitor at the 2013 Retailfraud.com award convention in Leicester. See this - http://www.leicester.retail-knowledg...xhibitors.html

Experian is, as you all know, one of the eminent credit reporting agencies on planet Earth. They have access to your social security number as well as all of your financial information. And readers of this forum may have been aware that Experian uses Iovation from the following threads here at PFA - http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/arc...hp/t-4729.html - and http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/arc...hp/t-4715.html .

But it can now be confirmed that Experian is more than a simple customer of Iovation. EXPERIAN and IOVATION are partners:

"Experian, the global information services company, today announced an international partnership with iovation, the Device Reputation Authority™, to further enhance Experian’s global fraud prevention capabilities. iovation’s advanced device recognition software, its dynamic referencing and device reputation checks will increase the reach and effectiveness of Experian’s identity verification and fraud prevention services..."

“ 'Collaborating with Experian means we can help our joint clients avoid fraud losses by stopping cybercriminals before they damage their business or customers. Combining iovation’s power of device reputation with Experian’s extensive identity-based services is game-changing,' said Jon Karl‚ Co-founder and Vice President of Corporate Development at iovation. 'iovation is committed to identifying suspicious activity, exposing the size and scope of problems, and helping our customers know whom to trust online.' ”

quoted from an Experian press release found here http://www.experianplc.com/news/comp...2-10-2012.aspx

Experian and Iovation announced "an international partnership", quoting Jon Karl about exposing suspicious activity. How sick and ironic is that? So the people who brought you the Ultimate Bet cheating cover up are now privy to every detail about all of our personal financial lives. Does that make you feel good? Does it give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside?

The so called "Retail Fraud Prevention Award" was given to an international partner of one of the award convention premier exhibitors. Experian basically paid RealFraud.com to give Iovation the award for its "ReputationManager360" software. Iovation's reputation is certainly being managed now by one of the most important financial related corporations in the world, Experian, who has the ability to make all of our lives miserable depending on what they say about our credit. And Iovation now has direct access to the financial details of everyone. Enemies of Iovation beware.

This is fucked up. And if the poker community doesn't destroy Iovation, it's a good (Ultimate) bet that Iovation will be doing some destroying of their own.
