If you are a lurker and still want to play, you must PM me or e-mail me beforehand and explain how long you've been listening/lurking, and tell me some of your favorite anecdotes from the forum (either here or DD) or the radio show. If you fail to do this before the tournament, or if you send me some generic bullshit like, "I think the show is funny. I like the show", you will NOT qualify for the freeroll, and your prize will be given to the next qualifying finisher. If you were an old-school regular user from NWP/DD who I remember, you will automatically qualify even if you weren't registered by 1/1/2013.

You will also automatically qualify if I remember you from NWP/DD, provided you are not banned from this site.

I am doing this in order to prevent freeroll-hunting leeches from using our site for our freeroll money and then disappearing.

I'm shocked PokerStars are so late to jump on the playchip selling bandwagon, they must have missed on multi-millions of dollars in revenue over the last few years as a result. Here's why;

I was a late starter when it came to poker, I first played the game on Facebook/Zynga with playchips in 2008. I was already in my 40s by then and I'd never played a hand of poker in my life. After a year or so I'd run up hundreds of millions of playchips, I was having a ton of fun and transitioning to playing poker for real money never really crossed my mind. During that time Zynga were selling playchips and would often advertise that fact to the players. I never paid any attention because I didn't go playchip busto, anyhow I wouldn't have been stupid enough to pay for a reload even if I had.

Sometime in mid 2009 I realised that the Zynga chips were being traded on eBay. I quickly decided to become a seller and get in on the action. I'd sell 5 million chips for £12 (about $20US). This was massively undercutting Zynga, I can't remember their exact prices now, but they charged something like $10 for 60K chips back then. I'd make 5 listings at a time which would always sell within 24 hours. The chips were transfered by chip-dumping at a HU 'cash' table, it took just a couple of minutes and the buyers always seemed happy. I'd then go and win the chips back at the tables, then when I had enough go back to eBay and sell another batch. To me it seemed the easiest way to earn $100 ever.

Late in 2009 Zynga realised that there was a big market for their chips on eBay, thereby costing them money, so they quickly shut it down. They did this by issuing warnings to all players, removing the HU tables and confiscating chips from anybody suspected of buying or selling. I abandoned selling and soon lost motivation to play on Zynga. $50 of money I made off those playchips became my first and only ever deposit on a real-money poker site. I've since run that up to a decent five-figure sum.

As you can see from my story, as crazy as it seems, recreational players are very willing to pay for playchips. Zynga must have made a fortune from their huge player pool over the last 5 years. Why have PokerStars been blind to this for so long?

The playchip market is where it all started for us now 20 something poker pros. When the poker boom hit where were all teenagers. The agreement amoung all the players for 40k or fold playchip tables being something very special in my heart. It's seriously where it all started after friends stopped playing poker as much and I found out about online poker from them. You could buy and sell playchips on various websites...I remember at the time Lan7x7 on AIM being the leader in the industry across all sites. Soon after a young asian kid dominated the market with his skills in google ranking and website development and hiring offshore people to build a playchip empire. He was making 5-10k a month real money from a buy/resell playchip business. To this very day he still owns two playchip sites that he has his family help run now and he has since moved on and runs a muli-million dollar furniture store. I could go on & on about this kid but I wont.

Currently you can buy/sell playchips on ftp and the higheststakes games are equivalent to .50/1 real money as in the chips are worth money. Solomon was making hundreds of dollars a month from grinding it for a bit. But don't get your hopes up...The games also play exactly like real money with legit playchip pros LOL. No BS!
