888 Poker takes action against "table campers"

Please note that they are NOT taking action against people sitting alone at tables, waiting for fish. Those are "bumhunters", and they are still allowed to do this.

Table camping is the practice of sitting out at tables, with the intention of getting a disproportionate number of free hands.

Here is how it works:

1) You sit out at active tables

2) Wait until the action breaks (for example, one guy has to go to the bathroom, and everyone else sits out, waiting for him to get back)

3) Sit back in when the game is about to go again. Provided you time it right and sit in at the right moment, it is considered a "new game", and you might get free hands without paying the blinds.

4) Sit out when the blind comes to you

The 888 rep said:

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to take action against players 'sitting out’ for excessive periods of time. Repeated abusers of the 'Sit out’ feature may be restricted from participating in our poker games either temporarily or indefinitely.

The practice of table-camping is dishonest, and I'm glad they are putting a stop to it. This should have happened across all sites a long time ago.
