    Death: Burial or Cremation?

I turn 50 very soon, naturally I am in the 3rd quarter of life. My life expectancy is 75.2 years. Which means playing the averages gives me 25 years left. Although given family history and lifestyle I am more destined for mid 60s expiration. So I told my wife I want to be cremated in the event of an untimely death.

There is something really weird to me of decomposing in a box for hundreds of years. There is something just more clean to me being slid through a 1000+ degree oven and put in a sealed bowl. That's just me.

I told my gf that when the time comes I want her to put me in a raft like the Eskimos with a couple days supply of food and snacks and go that way

My Father said he wanted to be Cremated and his Ashes sprinkled in the Ocean by his favorite place, sounds normal but little odd to think about.

As for me i'm still alive I don't think about dying now came close in 2020 when hit by a car so no thanks

Cremation is cheaper than burial. I paid $3300 for my sister's cremation in Alaska a few years back. A brother-in-law just died in Oregon and his cremation was $1500.

Burial plots can go four figures. The burial itself can go five figures.

When you go into the conveyor oven are you going with the scooter tied to your back? That would probably be another grand. I mean you are just not going to leave the scooter on the curb with a take me sign, are you?

Burial is the way to go.

500 years from now when some poor guy is mowing the graveyard I'm buried in, he is going to have to go out of his way to mow around my tombstone.

When I am buried, I want to be a pain in the ass for eternity.

    Cremation does not offer that.

What was the final tab for Texas Dolly's burial?

Guessing you have actuals but your estimates will do as well. Just hoping you didn’t harass the family.

In my will, i have expressed my desire that my body be cremated upon my demise. I have also explicitly stated my desire that my ashes be spread in the Poker Room in the Bellagio - Kind of like one more round at the tables. Yes, Gringos, I fully comprehend that my ashes will ultimately wind up inside a vacuum cleaner bag destined for a Nevada Landfill. I have also provided for funds for my family/friends to make this happen, including any legal expenses arising from this activity.

Best ask your parents or grandparents about that. Or are they already dirt napping?

Always struck me as stupid to do anything but the cheapest means of disposal. More than happy to become a cadaver for a medical student, donate my organs etc.

Funerals are awful and run around ten grand, I think? Literally no bigger waste of money than on a casket to be tucked into.

Most here will simply be found decomposing and dumped in a potter's field like standard refuse. The few of us with families/loved ones should set aside money. End times

Both my parents went the cremation route. Its nice and clean and the way to go. Better then the worm alternative. I will choose cremation.

I paid 4k plus for mom, dad found a really cheap service that cost 100 dollars , the company gave me back the ashes. They came the next day for my dad. Don't remember the name of the company. Still have both ashes from mom and dad. Dad was frugal to the end . Left my son nice inheritance for college. Son frugal also saved every penny for 20k for a year from grocery store. We paid any miscelaneous for sons needs
