Honestly the most shocking of the NBA scandals involved ref Tim Donaghy who made calls specifically to correspond with betting lines or to favor a specific team.
Basketball is a lot like golf in that you can keep the score as close as you want (with an escalating risk of screwing the pooch the closer you make it of course) without drawing too much attention to the fact your tanking.
