Yes, that's a real account.
A lot of you know that she's a girl I was friends with from college, and we reconnected on Facebook 16 years later.
That situation is increasingly common these days.
However, we have a unique twist that is definitely NOT common:
We didn't date in college, but we PRETENDED to date, in order to piss someone off that we mutually disliked.
At the time of the pretend relationship, it actually saddened me, because I wished it was actually real. I considered pursuing it, but I was about a week away from graduating and moving out of the area, so I didn't bother. Over the years I would think back to this and regretted never trying, and wondered what things would have been like if we actually had gotten together. I thought it was a regret that would forever be lost in the past, but the magic of Mark Zuckerberg allowed me to make it reality 16 years later.
That's why I can never hate Facebook, no matter how many times they change it and make it suck.
