The original "Love Boat" sold for just $3.3 million, then it kills 2 people

Cliffs:

- "The Love Boat" (known as "The Pacific Princess" -- an actual cruise ship) aired from 1977 to 1987

- The 36-year-old boat was still being used for Mediterranean cruises, but was on its final voyage to Turkey

- The ship was just bought for $3.3 million by a salvage company, which is pretty LOL for such a big ship to be worth that little. Must have been in pretty bad shape.

- While pulling into its final port of call, it got damaged and water seeped in. When they tried to remove the water, engine exhaust somehow got into the ship, and killed two people, and sickened 6 others. It's not clear if those two were employees or passengers.

- The ship is currently sitting on its side.

By the way, if you want to feel old, Lauren Tewes (who played Julie) is turning 60 in two months. She was 24 when the series started.

She left the show in 1984 because she was a coke fiend and they got tired of dealing with her. That pretty much torpedoed her career, and she never did any acting of significance after that.
