I had this for the first time last week and it immediately became my favorite IPA. Have you tried the grapefruit version? Gonna pick up some of that next.

California makes some really great beers.

My buddy is in SF now and if I don't get a bottle of pliny to try I am going to punch him in the dick

Also I'm going to San Diego, first time going West of Vegas, in may for a bachelor party. Are there any breweries I should have my eyes on other than stone, pizza port, and other well known bullshit. Would like to drink things I never see on the east coast. I'm going for a bachelor party with around 20 fellas, so any good spots for large size groups would be best.

One of my old friends that I don't hang out with in my adult years is a bartender/"mixologist" to use a term that drives me nuts. I really hate the bartender attitude that goes along with being a hipster faggot. It's a combo that is quite prevalent these days and people I know succumbing scares me. Well he is going for the bachelor party and is already talking about brewery trips. I'd like a list of my own so I can tell him he's an idiot for no reason whatsoever.

There are a fuckton of awesome breweries around here but Stone and Pizza Port don't fall into the awesome category imo.. Anyone that calls themselves a "mixologist" is a complete moron.. What part of town are you guys staying in??

There's actually a pretty good spot (nice patio, good craft selection) in the same parking lot as the blue sea. You guys are right in the thick of the party zone lol..

You should go to Stone - it's a great property and worth the trip. Lost Abbey is worth it for the beer, not so much the property.

my neighbor snapped up all the sculpin he could get his greedy mitts on when it first hit the local grocery store...it was "only" $10.99 for a 6 pack.

I picked up a 6pk of the Grapefruit Sculpin last week and wow was it good. I'm not a big on grapefruit but it's perfect for an IPA. I think it's slightly better than the regular Sculpin.

It was lemony and all of those beers were hella sweet. Way too much sugar. Great for your date, not for anyone in pants. The pony beer was the best of the lot, and that one is discontinued.
