Today was the kunt's birfday. Along with him and his wife, we had some Hills Farmstead and Brick and Feather at a cool place in Worcester, and picked up a bunch of the good doctor, Julius, from Treehouse.

Julius nightcap going on now, with Kenny supervising.

Become a big fan of Clown Shoes stouts and porters in the last year. I can find it in almost all the local grocery stores that sell beer, as well as most of the local packies. Seems available everywhere in eastern MA. Was looking for Undead Party Crasher, but this was a great consolation prize.

Been on the Exhibit "A" bandwagon the last month or 2 or so. Most of the time, I'm all about the Sunday Paper, a 9.9 imperial coffee stout. Light and easy for a stout essentially at 10% abv, tasty af, and available at the local packie. Tonite, tho, we're on their experimental series. Demo Tape Fifteen is 8% w/ Vic Secret and Ella. Had Demo tape 14 last week, which was the IPA version of this DIPA, and this one's pretty much that beer with a multiplier. I dig the spiciness of this one more than most. Like some sort of whacked out DDH Galaxy DIPA in some respects. Completely different in other respects. I have no idea what I'm rambling about, but shit's top shelf. Pedal stool and whatnot.

The last few months, the default nightly fare has been one of these 2. Sunday Paper is great for an almost 10% coffee stout, but Brigadeiro is the new house favorite. 7.5%, coffee and chocolate without being sweet, alcohol almost completely hidden even when warm. Sunday Paper in the pic, on an upside-down copy paper box. Framingham MA an impressive beer city. Jack's Abbey was the first brewry I ever bought beer directly from.

I wasn't looking for anything like this, but when I spotted it, I couldn't pass it up. Never had a bad Evil Twin anything, and one of my favorite drinking experiences ever was a summer Saturday morning, 90+ degrees F, Other Half Brewing in Brooklyn, where they were serving the ridiculous OH/Evil Twin collab with the equally ridic name, "If You Like Beer You Will Probably Also Like This Combination of Hops, Barley And Water." It was a 16% stout in 4 oz servings, and it was godly. This ain't that, but it ain't like anything else out there either.

I normally don't buy a 4 pk without finishing it, but this is either the exception, or else I might go limitles on the forum tonight.

It seems like the hot trend in 2019 is to throw random adjuncts into New England IPAs. Currently I am drinking a New England IPA with cinnamon added. It’s like I forgot to spit out my Big Red gum while drinking.

I never would have imagined ingredients like oats and lactose were things I'd want in my beer, but then I found out some of my favorite stouts use both. Life is weird. Drink tasty.

    This is tonight's deal.

I love this shit so much that when I buy it, I intentionally leave the unopened bottles at my brother's house so I won't drink it all at once like I would if I took it home, then 2 days later, I'll end up pestering him about what time he gets home so I can go over and pick up what I left there. Sorry Kunt for the inconvenience. :P

Dont throw away shit, and drink what you like.

As far as milkshake goes, only two brewers doing lactose the way I like it: Other Half in Brooklyn, and Mystic in Chelsea MA. Of the 2, OH is king and brews lactose IPAs on the reg. Mystic is tiny, and Frappes only get brewed occasionally and very small batches.

Also, if it has lactose but lacks Mosaic, then pass imo.

Springdale Brigadeiro, oatmeal stout with lactose, probably the only beer in the pic with any distribution, my favorite always-available beer. Umbra, another oatmeal stout, from Bissell Brothers in Maine, but Maine used to be MA so it's local. Next 3 are Tree House. Single Shot w/ Vanilla Bean, the first beer a few years ago that really blew my mind up and showed me that Drew Carey had it right all those years ago with coffee & beer together. Easily the most vanilla-tasting thing I have ever liked. Moment of Clarity is next, with maple, coffee, chocolate, & lactose. All the things, in large amounts, the most intense TH stout that they can instead of bottle. Last can is Abstraction - Coffee, the strongest of the bunch so far I think, and the greatest coffee-forward stout I've ever had.

In the glass is the headless Super Secret Stairs, from Trillium, the imperial version of their standard stout, this version at 10%.

    Picture is appropriately blurry, IMO.

sometimes when I want to remember when something happened in the last few years, I sometimes think back to what I was drinking at the time, and have even consulted this thread for dating purposes. It's been quite handy more than a few times. Here's a partial late spring/early summer beer stamp for later reference.

Not a lot of style variation, to be sure, but there's a ton of great IPAs and coffee stouts around here. All from MA save Lawson's from VT and Singlecut from Queens.

I’ve been starting to heavily use Untappd for this reason. My palate and preferences has constantly morved over the years. I’ve been very blessed with the beer scene in So Cal. Anaheim especially. There are some excellent spots that have seriously made me consider moving from Anaheim to Long Beach.
