Good beer but usually too taxed for what you get. I but expensive beers often but feel that Belgian strong ales usually don't give you the most bang for your buck. But if you really like it then go nuts.

I just tried it once because the bottle was unique and I saw how high the ratings for this particular beer was and it didn't hurt that it was like 10.5% alcohol.

I haven't bought this beer in like a year and it used to be one of my favorites. It probably still is but I just haven't had it in forever:

I hate everything from rogue. Their Shakespeare stout is alright but everything else I find terrible. Not worth the money they charge for that bullshit. Arrogant bastard might be one of my least favorite beers going.

I heard that Dragonmead was going to have Erik the Red on tap somewhere in Tiger Stadium. Something in red beers give me a horrible headache, but still nice to see.

I agree. I like the bottle/packaging a lot, and it is good beer, but the price is always a deterrent on that one for me.

I had one at Muldoon's in Utica finally. They had it on tap. It was ok, but i'm spoiled with the microbrews, it's def 3 notches above most.

They had the #9 on tap at a bar I go to around here and so I had one last night. It had a lot of flavor but had a production line kind of finish to it that I don't care for, but again, much better than anything with Miller on the label.

Hey whats wrong with the Miller Lite?

But in all seriousness it cracks me up when people say how much they love their Bud Light but can't stand Coors Light or love their Miller Lite but don't like Bud Light,etc... All three are cheap light American beer with very little that goes into producing it.

Their was a survey done a while back I forget where I read about it where they took 1000 beer drinkers and poured a sample of each Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Light in cups then had them guess what one is what. The numbers were staggering how many people claimed Bud Light for example was their favorite yet got it wrong when asked which one it was of the three beers.

As for Magic Hat #9 I've had it a few times. It's decent but not a beer I'd pick to drink often, however, I wouldn't turn it down.

I drink my share of light beer since it's cheap and as you say if your drinking a lot of it that is the way to go.

With that said I won't drink bottle of the barrel shit which for American beer a few of those would be Natural Ice, Milwaukee's Best, or PBR.

I had an Austrian Budweiser once and it was 10% alcohol, so i'm not sure Detcord's Bud Lite is the same as our 4% stuff. Don't get me wrong though, if I have to mow the lawn or some outdoorsy shit, i'm reaching for that Bud Lite 10 out of 10 times.
