Chino Rheem gets staked for 111k one drop; blows the money on baccarat?

Apparently Chino was supposed to play the one drop tournament but never showed up so obviously some people got concerned. There are now rumblings at 2p2 about Chino taking the one drop buyin and dropping it at baccarat. Anyone hear anything about this? If true, fucking wow.

Heard from his friends yeah he F'd up BIG TIME! Story at Bellagio yesterday was he blew Guy's stake $$$ in pit..do not know what pit though. But 1000% story of him blowing stake is true

Guy should publicly out Chino and put an end to his madness

His friends r totally to blame to keep staking him. The kid is sick and he needs to be cut off from all gambling He needs help before he kills himself or someone kills him
    Blew the stake?

Nah, Chino just robbed Guy. Straight up.

He said to himself this dude has more money than God, and what is he gonna do if I "happen" to blow it all? Not a damn thing. Probably was waiting for the right time, and after his little hot streak lately used that to get the money.

Their must be a reason he said he was going to put himself in a better mindset and change his life around.

Surely we should believe him the money must of went other places.

Perhaps Chino is Micon's backer? That would make sense.

Should have taken the dough to the craps table, obv. When he hit a good run, he'd just have to take it and go. That’s all.

OK not a long con I guess just an opportunity to basically get the max con. Hey if you're gonna rip off 111k might as well rip off a billionaire who could probably give a shit less about 100k.

Following his 1997 Main Event win, Stu Ungar looked Gabe Kaplan (his good friend) right in the eye, held up a picture of his young daughter, and said that he was going to turn everything around for her sake.

He immediately shot off the $500k he won on drugs and sports betting, and was dead 15 months later.

If Guy gave him 111k to buy in and Chino blew it then I don't feel one bit bad for Guy. While I am sure he would be pissed because it's his charity and pissed that some degen rolled him, fact is ANYONE who gives Chino Rheem any amount of money to buyin into a tourney while they are not there and knows about his past pretty much deserves to get rolled. I wouldn't trust this guy to run into Subway and get me a sub.

But seriously, LOL @ anyone just handing $111k to Chino, and not walking with him up to the cage, buying him in, and instructing Jack Effel not to allow him to get a refund under any circumstances.

How could someone not have warned Laliberte that this might happen?

Anyway, congrats, Chino. You out-iamhiv'd Jonathan Drane.

I'm sure Lailaberte knows all about Chino. I heard he staked him maybe in the Epic Poker League? maybe they had a good history leading up to this IF true.

Guy wasn't at the opening of One Drop MTT and most believe he wasn't because Cirque Michael Jackson was opening @ Mandalay Bay.

So it is possible he promised to put in Chino and just handed him the cash the night before or something and figured "there is no way this guy will roll a charity" and thought he was doing him a big favor to help Chino get back on his feet.

If he thought there was no way anyone would roll a charity he should have read this thread first obv

And again right now I believe this is a rumor but it has been talked about for over 24 hrs now and Chino hasn't posted anything on twitter so good chance this probably did happen

A heavy gambling addiction isnt much different than a hard core drug addiction. Both hard core gambling addiction and drug addiction act on the brain in similar ways. That is what I love about my 3 day trips to Vegas. You can grab a a flight out of there before it completely drains your soul.

Hilarious that someone would actually give him the cash versus be there when he registered for the event and make sure he had a ticket.

I guess though he could always un register and get the money back right?

Also, based on prior and current photos of chino, I would bet a ton that he is dealing with a severe crack or meth addiction

In most cases, yes, but I bet this would have to go through some approval process for $111k, and I'm sure Guy would have enough influence with Jack Effel to get them to agree to refuse to unregister Chino.

It's actually not a player's right to unregister. The WSOP does it as a courtesy, but they can refuse to unregister you if they want.

I am very close with someone that worked for a massive staking operation back during the hey day of online poker.

Chino was one of the horses, but most of them couldn't be trusted and most were big names. They were all criminals of opportunity - if given the opportunity to steal they almost all would depending on the likelihood of getting caught and the amount. One thing I learned was different personalities steal in different ways. These are some of the most well known names in poker and collectively their credibility was found wanting. Chino wasn't any better or worse than the ethical median.

    Interesting.

The problem with the poker community in general is that it's comprised of those who want to make easy money without working.

That typically doesn't attract honest, salt-of-the-earth characters.

Once a poker player goes broke (or close to it), he goes into panic mode. He wants to do anything to stay in action, and especially doesn't want to admit failure and return to the real, mundane world of working for a living. In some cases, they don't have the education or skills to get a decent job.

At this point, they typically resort to staking arrangements, and will often steal for extra money when they can, especially when the staking arrangement isn't making them much.
