Well the new movie from Studio Ghibli left me utterly flummoxed. Went to the local Angelika theater for a matinee showing with great seats and levain cookies (smuggled in). The quality of the art and visuals are never in question when it comes to Miyazaki, and this film was no exception in this sense. However, I personally felt as though the plot was lacking in some ways. Perhaps it was the pacing because about 3/4 of the way through I was just about ready to check out mentally, but stayed out of respect for Ghibli and Miyazaki. This movie is no Spirited Away that is for sure.
